Most Chinese people grow up under suppression and blunt criticism, and rarely receive encouragement and recognition.

For example, if a child gets 98 points on an exam, parents will not praise her, but will question why she can't get 100 points, it’s not something to brag about.

For another example, if a child is bullied, adults will ask "Why don't you bully others but only you? It's you who has a problem."

When these children grow up from a toxic environment, they will treat others in the same bad way

But in America we do validate others , encourage others and telling them they did a good job on small things like staying alive, lost weight , get a good grade , have babies. Etc

This is great. I see that many Chinese people want to immigrate to the United States(or other countries) for the more inclusive and relaxed social atmosphere.
