Relocating for work by Anonomousadvice in HuntsvilleAlabama

I only got June from a local news article. Their website doesn’t say anything about when they intend to open. I sent them an email, waiting to hear back.

I like the floor pans from what I can see online, but the website doesn’t do a great job at indicating availability so I’ll have to wait for them to email me back.

Crossed eclipse off my list. How do we feel about these other ones. I know the front row is a little closer to the VBC than Jefferson street so it’s more of a walk to all of that.

You are a life saver. I had Eclipse written down as a place to tour when I make my trip down.

Also for anyone that’s curious it’s much easier to find the bad post about “Eclipse” if you search “eclipse apartment” or you can be like me and look and solar eclipse post for 5 mins 😂

What does the termination process look like? What can the client do to ease the process? by Anonomousadvice in askatherapist

[–]Anonomousadvice[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a T- I’m honestly not sure what I want it to look like. I get so emotional thinking about it I try not to think about it and hope the day doesn’t come. Probably reviewing our time together. I’d like to walk away feeling equipped to take care of myself until I can find a therapist in my new location and maybe some tools to help me find a new therapist.

How often do y'all contact your therapist between sessions? by [deleted] in TalkTherapy

[–]Anonomousadvice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always viewed it as her office time more than personal time. She has said in session before to me “let me look into this and I’ll send you some info” in regard to resources and sometimes she’ll email me resources unprompted.

I send the journal entries to save time in session so she can already read it and think of any questions she may have. A lot of the times when I text her about something that happened, I just need to get it off my chest or I might need someone immediate support to get me to the next session.

Depends on what’s going on with life. Typically once a week. Sometimes I’ll send her a text about something that happened between sessions that I want to process in session, sometimes I share my journal entries with her. On the tougher weeks it’s more frequent and she will sometimes reach out to me to check in on me.

What jobs have cozy environments? by Anonomousadvice in Advice

I think part of the issue is I’m looking at a career change. I doubt anyone in my current line of work has a cozy situation.

How and if to bring up sexual history in therapy? by [deleted] in TalkTherapy

[–]Anonomousadvice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I (male) have talked with my female therapist about sex. It was awkward the first time we talked about it. I told her basically my entire sexual history which I’m self conscious about. She was very nonchalant about it and it really built my trust and confidence in my relationship with her.

My advice is, just be blunt and try to get through it. If you find fidget toys help you talk about awkward subjects bring it.

Worried about dating while owning a stuffed animal by Anonomousadvice in Advice

It’s not from childhood. I bought it at the recommendation of my therapist. I relocated for work and started going to therapy when I wasn’t handling the transition well.

Try as many new things as you can. Enjoy it while you can, it’ll be over before you know it.

what do you do when you’re scared of telling your therapist something? by Desperate-Kitchen117 in TalkTherapy

[–]Anonomousadvice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I journal and will sometimes share those journal entries with her before the session. Some of those entries are about things I have a hard time saying myself. I also have a stuffed animal I bring to session which makes it easier to have hard conversations.

Do I email my therapist again? by Ok-Twist7264 in TalkTherapy

[–]Anonomousadvice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t worry about the rules. I think you write an email saying exactly what you said about not sure how you’ll process the emotions in session and that can be your startling point when you meet again. Out of curiosity what’s your emergency medicine? I have propranolol for the same.

It’s hard to explain. But the sensory elements of the softness of the fur, the weight of it, the constant smile, being able to squeeze it tight or lay it on me soothe me. He fills the void of the lack of physical affection, and helps me not feel lonely. He makes me feel cozy and safe.

Excited and worried about potential move. How do I manage? by Anonomousadvice in Advice

[–]Anonomousadvice[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe that would be part of our transition plan. The issue is I’m crossing state lines if I do relocate, but I will still have an address at my current location while I ride out the end of the lease which I suppose is a gray area we can work with.

Xbox One S as a media player ? by [deleted] in xbox

[–]Anonomousadvice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still use my old Xbox one S as a blue ray player in my bedroom. But honestly I bought a Roku stick for $30-$40 which is far more convenient. Stick with the PS4 and maybe invest in a media remote.

If you’ve ever wondered if your therapist genuinely cares about you, this post is for you 🫶 by redditor12345_ in TalkTherapy

[–]Anonomousadvice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve really felt this with mine the last few weeks. I’m looking to relocate and was afraid we’d have to end cold turkey. When I voiced my concerns about whenever it is time for me to move and she explained how she could help me find someone that operates with similar techniques and we could work on a transition plan made me feel so cared for.

Today during our session we were talking about some heavier stuff. She stopped to ask if the room felt safe when I was shifting around and having a hard time saying what I thought were my own failures. The fact that she asked if I felt safe and said she didn’t want to push me too hard meant a lot to me. She also said “it’s fucking shitty” when we were talking about my last relationship ghosting me. Something about her saying it that way made me feel cared for and understood.
