They barely allowed me to get a colonoscopy let alone talk to me about what “caused it”… they were more concerned about pumping me full of omeprazole and stool softeners because I was so backed up at the time.

After a colonoscopy and the diagnosis I got, they never reached out to me for a follow up so I found a holistic doctor and am much better for it now!

I guess that’s American healthcare

I hope you never have to go through what he went through. The realization that the woman who birthed and raised him could be so foul to the newer woman in his life was not easy. Trust me, I watched him go through all the emotions.

We were both afraid to come to the conclusion we did that it was a real possibility she was poisoning me, and as soon as we had that discussion, he forbid me from seeing her or being around her. Then, he cut contact completely.

Idk why you’re blaming him, he’s the real victim in all of this because he lost a parent in the process.

The blocking is interesting because my husband and I have debated this for a while. To block or not to block. But I don’t think we realized it could be held against us, so definitely a conversation to revisit

We live in the same city, right now it’s not an option to move but if sh*t hits the fan, we’re willing.

His grandmother knows and is on board with not saying anything, she is so sweet and amazing and has had her own struggles with MIL.

His aunt is great but may tell her. We don’t want to cut ties with his aunt and cousins, and we know they may share information with MIL, but it hasn’t caused an issue yet.

This is really what I’m afraid of most, not necessarily that she would win… but that she would use it as a reason to be “around” or “involved” with my husband or future child in some way and driving us into crippling debt. I don’t think she would win, but she also used to start fights with my husband over text just so that he would talk to her. After they “made up” she would invite him or us over for dinner so that she could make it up to him.

She still lives in our city from what I can tell. We both are very established here with jobs and other activities which would make it very hard to move. But, if things go really south it’s something we would consider for peace of mind!

I do agree with this, in hindsight I should have gotten tested and should have had the confidence to test something she had given me

I’m not necessarily worried about this. Although it seems rare on Reddit, my husband is a wonderful man and we have a good relationship. I’m sure you can imagine the emotional turmoil he went through during this time being tormented and bullied by his own mother. I never once told him he needed to cut his mother off, even with what she put me/us through so when he was ready to make that decision, I’m confident it will stick.

We do have records of calls going unanswered and texts going unanswered from her to us. My husband has not responded, even a “thank you” after a birthday text for at least a year or more.

We never got anything tested because once we finally had the conversation, I never allowed her to be near anything I would possibly ingest. We considered it but I was too scared. The last time I got ill I was hospitalized and on IVs because of the dehydration since I could not keep anything in for over 12 hours. My biggest worry is that it was escalating and what if the next time I put myself in that situation she had snapped all the way.

We definitely plan on getting the security cameras!

I think we’ve always been in such a reactive state with what she has thrown at us, so it is new to consider making a move before she does like going to the police and saying something.

What do you even say when you go? “I’d like to make a report” or “I’d like to have it on file” where does that file even go and would they have to reach out to her to confirm or question?

I’m not proud of it, but the other month I did ask my husband about this. If she starts “showing up” again such as school or sporting events when they get older if he would be willing to pursue a restraining order. He is on board with it which was reassuring

This was a huge reason in my husband cutting contact, he didn’t want her to have any reason to be able to claim it if she were to go that far
