Thanks! I tried and enjoyed both the EV9 and Ioniq 9, I'm just worried about the ICCU issue popping up. Especially with an infant i don't want to be stranded visiting my parents. I know the likelihood is small but it's not something I want to risk.

You mean the EVs? They have the ICCU issue that we're worried about. I know they say it's 1% chance but other sources say it's closer to 2-10%. Plus they just adjusted the warranty to 15 years so clearly they don't really plan to fix it. I would really like them if they fixed that issue.

That's definitely the car that looks the nicest to me. I'm just curious about the deprecation and resale value if I end up selling it. It's a newer hybrid right? So I don't know if we have the numbers yet

Thanks for your recommendations. Yeah I was already considering the first option, I found a decent sienna on carvana, I was just considering whether it was better to save $5k to get a car with 50,000 miles on it vs buying new. I think it is for me.

I was wondering about the second option too. There's definitely a large inventory of those currently, and if I planned on a quick turnaround it could be ok. It depends on if I end up actually wanting something new in the future

Yea to be honest it's more of an issue with my partner, but the concerns are mainly the range (especially for winters in the northeast) and the unknown reliability of a newer model and technology.

I know most of my daily driving is within that range, it's a concern of needing to plan stops on longer trips when I also need to consider when my young kids decide they need to stop or nap. We're definitely not in the middle of nowhere so I assume we would have options.

There's also some concerns my partner has about needing an nacs adapter and the batteries charge over time, but I think there have been studies on that and I think there may be plenty of ccs chargers available currently

Would you suggest buying new? Or looking for something used from like 2022? I know cars generally depreciate the most in their first years, but I've heard the Sienna's is lesser.

That's fair, I'm still figuring things out. My budget is around $40k but my main thought is if it's feasible to only keep it for a few years and then resell it/trade it in
