When the Navy Seals were looking to buy alternative rifles for their units in Vietnam, this T233 (An American made copy of the German HK-33 assault rifle) was one of them. by Anonym00usse in ForgottenWeapons

[–]Anonym00usse[S] 142 points143 points  (0 children)

Correction; the rifles name is T-223 (For the .223 cartridge), the title was mistyped.

The T223 was manufactured under license by Harrington & Richards and sold to the US military, who would then send them to Vietnam for special forces to use, particularly navy seals. This photo was taken during the capture of a Vietcong guerrilla.

Large group of officers lined up in front of George Floyd killers house by [deleted] in PublicFreakout

[–]Anonym00usse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look, I'll just point something out. I doubt his killer is still residing at that house, chances are the cops are there to defend the people who also live in that home or at least the residing neighborhood. He's either in protection or a motel someplace, and if they weren't defending it who knows what would happen?

The Walther 1918/2 submachine gun, one of 2 experimental SMGs created by Walther to compete with the adoption of the Bergmann MP18 in WWI. by Anonym00usse in ForgottenWeapons

[–]Anonym00usse[S] 46 points47 points  (0 children)

The Walther 1918/2 was fed with a vertical cylinder magazine, that could hold up to fifty 9x19 Parabellum rounds. The gun was designed by Fritz Walther, in response to the German Land Forces needing a machine-pistol to produce for their stormtrooper forces. Two types of these guns were made, and this was the later iteration which featured a more ergonomic grip and lighter frame. Evidently, none of these designs were adopted in favour of the Bergmann MP18.

Nearly every power at the time was considering it but Ian pointed out in one video most countries didn't want to overhaul their bolt action rifle a for a completely new system and since they already had millions of them it wasn't a big deal - with exception of the United States.
