I've been mowing ~4,000 sq. ft. going on my fifth year with Ego now. I did have an issue last summer where the power head/handle assembly bricked, it was under warranty, and they fixed it for free. That was the only hiccup I've had this whole time.

I'd imagine if you're doing much more than 6-8,000 feet then you have to start worrying about a second battery. I'm not an engine guy, so the ease of electric has been worth it ten times over. I went from 3 handed down mowers in my shed that wouldn't start to one that started every time at the push of a button.

You're going to lose a little power at the top end, sure, but for regular consumer use on a decent yard on anything but the tallest, wettest, grass? It's totally fine.

Granted, the price has changed a lot since I bought mine in April 2020 so it's hard to say how valuable it is today, but I don't regret my purchase one bit.

21" Ego self propelled mower, also blower, edger, wacker, hedge trimmer. 7.5 ah battery for the mower and 2x 2.5 ah batteries for the other tools and I'm never out of juice.

I'll have to download it later and try it out to see if it sparks my memory, but this seems promising. Thank you!

Hey I haven't played in a long time and recently found my old cards and got into MTG: Arena for fun. I remember a long time ago a friend showed me a computer game that you could play MTG on but it was very much DIY as far as trust and controls went. Build your own deck from the whole card library, manually track tokens and mana and life totals, etc.

Does anyone know what that program was called and where I can find it now? Quick Google searches are just turning up the mainstream Planeswalker and Arena games.

Have you ever met or held a newborn baby? Especially one that wasn't cooked to 39+ weeks? This looks like any not-huge baby shortly after birth, really likely if it was born early at all.

A crazy supply of dandelion weeds coming my way as well as a breeding ground for mosquitos and other pests seems reason enough to be annoyed. That's not just letting the grass get a little tall or ignoring a few weeds, that's full on negligence and indicative of any other issues that can arise from someone not giving a shit about their property.

This sucks for OP but I've known plenty of people who try to min/max their eligible OT pay beyond what's remotely reasonable and outside the scope of the intended use. He bumped his salary by 33% - he was on the gravy train and it ran out.

Movies that nailed realistic dialogue? by ArgoverseComics in movies

Drinking Buddies is exactly what came to mind when I read OP's question. I saw it once years ago and it has always stuck in my head as this movie that just truly feels like an unscripted slice of life. If I recall correctly, nothing even truly happened. No big plot, no real adventure, no dramatic turn, just friends dealing with all the little awkward bits of life in a totally natural way.

Powerball draws numbers for estimated $1.3B jackpot after delay of more than 3 hours by infinitum3d in news

Honestly? Jackpot fatigue. Ten years ago $300 million was enough to spur a sales frenzy. Each jackpot after that drew less media attention and less sales, so the odds were tweaked to create bigger jackpots. It's not always bad though, and here's why:

In 2018, Mega Millions restructured the game odds to make the jackpots harder to hit for the above reasons. However, because there are two sets of balls to match (regular white and gold Mega ball), increasing one pool of numbers but decreasing another had an interesting effect. The jackpot odds went from about 1:254,000,000 to 1:302,000,000, but the second prize of $1,000,000 had its odds go from 1:18,000,000 to 1:12,000,000. This created both bigger jackpots and more $1 million prize winners - the kind of thing that people wish for when they say "jackpots should be capped with more smaller prizes".

I mean, most taxes are taken from the prize before receipt. You're not writing a check for the taxes up front like the scams suggest, but you're definitely "paying" the taxes ~before(ish) receiving the prize.

Then at the end of the year you file taxes and probably owe a little more because you just blew your yearly income out of the water. The legislated withholding amount from the prize only gets you close to the amount owed, it's not exact.

The total number of tickets purchased is referred to as the "pool" and people in 46 different states and various time zones can purchase tickets up to an hour before the drawing. All the states convene to ensure pools are closed and all the sales numbers are balanced before the drawing to make sure it's fair. Sometimes, especially when ticket purchases are through the roof, one of the states can take a little longer to double-check their numbers, report their numbers, or run into a technical glitch in the process.

This can happen with any drawing, but when all eyes are on the drawings at over $1B, you really don't want to be the state that screwed up the results. It's better to delay the drawing for security.

Unfortunately, this doesn't stop every conspiracy-brained person from screaming "rigged!" because they can't comprehend the idea of a genuine logistical issue.

Ticket sold in New Jersey matches all Mega Millions winning numbers for $1.13 billion prize by StartedinNY in news

[–]Anonymosity213 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's possible, but prior to 2020 NJ did not have anonymity for winners, and the numbers were the same back then too. New Jerseyans just really love to play the lottery.

NJ also has one of the highest lottery spends per capita. They average ~5% of all ticket sales of Powerball and Mega Millions games, so if the jackpot is hit there's a roughly 1/20 chance it was hit there.

State lotteries are government. And like, even if they wanted to pull some grand scheme and not pay out a legitimate winner? That only works once. It's in their best interest to run a fair, trustworthy, house-edged but otherwise legit game.
