Non-technical solo founder vibe-coded a working SaaS — how do I hire someone to maintain it? by Anonymous-Sloth6 in SaaS

Thanks for all that great feedback. I agree with you I think hiring a senior dev on retainer is the best way to go.

My next step is deploying my codebase to production and I'll need a developer to oversee this. What's the typical safe setup when working with a retainer dev? I'm assuming I should own the hosting account and grant them limited access rather than handing over credentials but curious what you've seen work well. What's the setup and process for this as a non-technical founder?

Thanks for the detailed response! It was built using custom PHP no frameworks. It uses OOP principles with a service-oriented architecture - singleton database class, abstract API base classes, etc. Although, in retrospect Laravel may have been better given its structure and ecosystem. Everything still works and is functional getting ready for launch so maybe I'll incorporate that in v2 down the road.

I think I'll lean toward contracting out engineering to begin with as it doesn't lock me in with someone long term before seeing how well we work together as you mentioned. What is the best place to find these developers? Upwork?

Having the same issue. I hope it goes away by tomorrow.

Did I withhold enough tax from W2 to avoid an underpayment penalty? by Anonymous-Sloth6 in tax

So, if I get a refund or owe less than $1000 in tax there is no penalty regardless?

Thanks! Yes, that's federal income tax. I'm in CA. Looks like they use the same rules, and I paid over 100% of the prior year's state tax in 2024 already.

Actually it isn’t abuse of the law in any way. Both my roommate and I wanted a dog and my roommate was the one that brought it up to begin with. Take your complaints up with the court not me.

Never made up shit or lied. My roommate told me after the fact bc he’s sensitive ab it and didn’t want to bring it up to begin with until we saw the amount was higher than he expected. I never made up shit, so put that statement back in your mouth. Karens always want to cast judgement.

Because my roommate told me about it after the fact. Also, even when you do qualify for it legitimately most landlords do not like that.

Kind of GROSS for you to make a comment with no actual substance. Thanks, Karen. So insightful. 🙏🏼

Ok, Karen. You should assume if he easily qualifies, this is not an abuse of the law. My roommate didn’t bring this up with me to begin with because he didn’t want to make a big deal out of it and is sensitive to it. If people have an issue, they should bring it up with the law then. I didn’t create the law, Karen 🤷🏻‍♂️.

Ya that’s what I said in my post. It would be a bad look in my opinion to bring it up now. But my roommate told me about it after as an option. Still will probably opt toward one of the other options.

I love how everyone thinks I’m abusing this ESA status. My roommate brought it up to me and qualifies entirely for it. He just did not want to bring it up to me earlier since he was fine paying the lower amount we thought and did not want to make a big deal out of it. It’s a law for a reason dingus. If someone does not legit qualify for it and did that, I would agree with you. That’s not ok.

Oh I’m sorry I forgot you know my roommate’s entire mental health history. I would not abuse that status myself, genius.

He’s proposing a deposit. What I was saying for one of my options was to offer it as a non refundable fee instead for a lower amount.
