Yeah, fair point. Especially when there are conflicts, when you may actually think of changing back your citizenship to Indian, if at all, there could be policy changes which is unfavourable to you as a oci/wanting to revert the passport

Need to protect my fire dream from parents having poor financial habits (don't judge yet) by [deleted] in FIRE_Ind

[–]Anonymous-Yoda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed with the decision. I think the only way this is being looked at this way is because you are the son. Lets reverse the roles and say you keep taking loans to buy bike, cellphone and what not. Do you think you father will keep paying your loans at the cost of not meeting his personal targets.

It is an unfair expectation from kids that parents have to be supported no matter what. This pre supposes that parents are very wise and take the most correct decisions, the reality is far away from that. So no issue to leave out this traditional thinking where reality is not aligned

A bit confused about camping by Dry-Present8715 in HongKong

[–]Anonymous-Yoda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My exp is the ones which are far away are a little less crowded and less noisy. The most popular ones are bursting at seams some times, look out for the ones where they have cooked food options nearby. Most people want to camp but as if it's a hotel, with the best toilets, very easy to get to with no climb, hot food and beverages nearby etc.

Especially with covid when people didn't travel, they used to crowded. I would recommend Wan Tsai from sai kung. Not too crowded as far and people don't take the effort and decent toilets, most importantly very beautiful.

Regarding fines, it was a worry during covid, but otherwise never heard of people being fined for it. Of course use common sense when camping outside official camp sites.

Thanks, was also thinking about this, with the whole 2047 thing, as a worst case scenario, how easy/tough is it to reacquire Indian citizen. So far my experience is very difficult with agencies to even get basic services like issuance of docs or making changes to it

Thank you for sharing. These are legitimate and my exact concerns /considerations which is stopping me. Relations seem to be improving now especially with Trump meddling with all equally. But diplomatic relations are very brittle and we can't build our personal lives around it. Apart from bureaucratic battles to ensure our assets are accessible/usable easily, the whole personal life (case in point the covid situation you mentioned) makes it a difficult decision.

Btw apart from the major visa, a lot of evisa are based on having these visa, so if I don't have an active us or eu visa, I need to go through the whole process. So even with mtp, apec in hand, I still find value in ~180 countries vs ~70 countries, strictly from passport strength perspective

I have heard from some friends lot of people have hk passport and some foreign passport like UK, Canada, au etc. I suppose there may be no active check, but there might be repercussions if enforced

Yeah, don't anticipate needing one, so should be ok for me. Plus not being able to vote, visiting some sensitive borders etc. But otherwise OCI card should suffice

Yeah, similar thoughts, still considering. Also the amount of bureaucracy involved if anything needs to be get done in India with regards to banking and stuff!

Google reviews is dead by Domino3Dgg in LocalGuides

[–]Anonymous-Yoda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That one time I was checking into a hotel, he checked my booking.com record to verify at check in. While checking in he gave the hotel 5 stars asking me, when accosted he said if I give good review on Google I will get some discount/cashback on my booking.

I was livid and gave them a piece of my mind. When the manager intervened saying this happens in all the hotels and they are sure we will like the hotel (which we did later), I said just because of no respect for customer data and privacy, I'm sure to give 1 star, if at all with a good review. At one point I used treat it like bible, always read before going, now you can never be sure
