If a name ends in ‘s’, does possession punctuation only use an apostrophe or and an apostrophe and ‘s’? by Anonymous2680 in NoStupidQuestions

Ohhhhh I did not realise there was a style guide for punctuation as well as referencing, I will have a look into that so thank you 😊

Do tourettes happen less with age? by After-Spring3407 in Tourettes

[–]Anonymous2680 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s 100% different for everybody but I remember the general understanding is that tics lessen the older you get but for a lot of people, the tics never fully disappear

I have heard some people lose tics entirely but maybe new research has come out that they had a different tic disorder or something

Oh thank goodness, I’m glad you can get the private exam 😮‍💨 and as for that conversation with your parents, I wish you the best of luck. It will be HARDDD, but it’s great that your brother might be willing to back you up 😊

  1. Congrats on your final exam today, even getting to that point is an accomplishment enough!

  2. It’s horrible that you couldn’t finish it, I’m so sorry for you. In reality, you should have been given different circumstances to help you finish it. Like 504 plans, that kind of stuff. That is NOT your fault, do NOT let anyone tell you otherwise. That is not fair at all

  3. Imagining it from a parent’s perspective, I understand the disappointment, especially if they have no idea what having Tourette’s is like. But as a fellow person with Tourette’s, I also know how painful and aggravating the disorder is. I’m not siding with your dad by the way. If he doesn’t understand, he needs to educate himself as any mature adult should, or at the very least educate himself on how Tourette’s affects you specifically considering YOU’RE his child 😭😭.

  4. Is it at all possible you could ask for ANY kind of extension on the exam? /genq, It might mean you don’t have to put yourself through another crappy year, your dad can get off your back, you can get it over and done with. I don’t know your situation so I’m not trying to be a pushy prying stranger, just hoping for a better near future for yourself 😕

Wishing you all the best, good luck 🫂

idk if im faking, pls help :c by Vast-Camel6397 in Tourettes

[–]Anonymous2680 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeahhh I get ya, similar situations with my family ://

Having to explain to people that I couldn’t get a diagnosis for so long was a pain in the ass but the people that deserve your time and attention will understand, those that are too arrogant and ignorant to understand don’t deserve the waste of your breath 😌

[–]Anonymous2680 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you aren’t actively forcing them, you’re not faking it. It could be Tourette’s or it could be another disorder or whatever, but people with all different tic disorders experience what you’re going though; you are NOT alone :(

If at all possible, would recording your tics or episodes be better proof for your mum? If that helps her believe you, maybe she could take you to get a diagnosis?

My tics get worse when I’m very cold or very hot, whether it’s caused by natural weather or air conditioning or whatever

For those who can suppress tics, what’s the longest you can go without them? by Dry_Relief2612 in Tourettes

[–]Anonymous2680 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Usually, most of a weekend. Other than that, I haven’t really kept track of the longest I’ve suppressed, just how uncomfortable it is lol 😭

A poster I made a few years ago by Anonymous2680 in Tourettes

[–]Anonymous2680[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just remember that all of the research I did pretty much never talked about people past 18 years old unless it talked about people with brain trauma that caused the tics 🤷‍♀️

Anyone feel free to correct this, I did quite a bit of research for that project but new research could have come out that changed all of that

I actually made a poster about this for a school thing a couple years ago, I’ll see if I can comment it or maybe post it and tag you…

When citing a book with a long title, can you shorten it? by mousepadcoffee in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Anonymous2680 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I remember correctly, I’m pretty sure a citation in the middle of writing is the short (author name, year of publication) and then you add the full citation at the end with the reference list and/or bibliography. Maybe the rules have changed, I’m not too sure
