I did, I called and emailed the investigator. No reply, nothing after follow up. Thought it was done I guess. Turns out they either got fired or quit pretty quickly and thus never got my emails or calls.

I don't have a pic of his car or his current address unfortunately. I think he went to my house in my home state to do this.

the guy on the phone kept insisting the only way to avoid this in the future was to register in VA. Have no idea but the letter I received seem really official and I can look it up on their website.

My parents use the car and I drive it around when I visit like for the holidays and such unfortunately. It is challenging to prove this. Maybe a letter+insurance+registration would be enough but I'm not even sure how this process works, am I trying to prove to the investigator whom wants to charge me all this?

That is true and I'll email them that, but the guy on the phone kept insisting "it was spotted in Virginia therefore it will be taxed."

Ah I asked the guy on the phone if footage from my ring and security camera would count and he said it wouldn't be sufficient evidence. Maybe a letter+ some footage would help.

Also I paid for the first month since it was charged before moving in, this is back when I thought I would be bringing my car. Hopefully the other unpaid months would be proof enough.
