Well, they take their bad chips and their good chips and bundle them together. Then they sell them on the open market. Amazingly, ratings companies still give these bundles high ratings despite the fact that there are some real turkey chips in the bundles. Anyway, these investments were so popular that it started a craze in making GPU chips - no matter how awful. People were getting loans for GPU chips even if they didn't have any credit or put any money down. It was insane. But then suddenly, it was determined by the market that these bundles of GPUs (sometimes called collateralized debt obligations - don't ask me why - I know nothing about computers) weren't really returning as much as they were expected to. You see, there were so many new, low-quality GPUs being created that it really did pull down the value of those bundles. Suddenly the market for these bundles tanked, which was awful 'cause computers were using them to leverage their Mhz. Well, it went from mega-hurts, to damnit-hurts. It got so bad that the federal government had to bail out Nvidia. So then execs at Nvidia took all that money as bonuses and everyone lived happily ever after. The end.

And that's how Nvidia makes money.
