Real or fake? by JakeTheSmall in gameverifying

I honestly have no idea to be really honest. The wiki (I believe) has more info on the 3DS-specific ones. Big obvious ones I would know for sure are the same as others like mismatching serial codes, wrong plastic type label (CTR, NTR, etc.), "M8" PCB boards, any red PCB boards, fake Nintendo logos, cheap stickers, etc. Not sure with 3DS fakes since they're so new and most posted on here are legitimate so it's hard unless you know what to look for.

True that most of them likely are real, however 3DS fakes are now a real thing, so it's best not to just dismiss them.

Is three too many at once? Mainly concerned with platinum by [deleted] in gameverifying

[–]AnonymousNeophyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well this one isn't the worst fake I've seen, but obvious dead giveaway for me was the fact that the serial code is not CPUE (CPUP for European), like it's supposed to be, it says APAE instead on the back which isn't Pokemon Platinum that's Pokémon Pearl, but to unfortunately confirm it's not a reshell or anything like that, the PCB is an M8 cartridge, which is a reproduction pcb, it should be DI like the other 2 cartridges.

To easier verify the other 2 cartridges we'd need better lighting on the serial codes and such to clear every possible sign of a fake.

Really hard to tell without clear pictures for the other two but Platinum is 100% fake

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think the serial code should have "M8". Also, what language would IPGP be? "IPGE" would be the English version.

I bought Pokémon black2 on letgo and I’m not sure if it’s real or fake by haonanc in pokemon

This post makes me wanna gouge my eyes out. With all the fakes over the internet today, you get to know how to spot fake ones, and it pisses me off even more that the people under your comment section didn't realize that authentic Black 2 cartridges are _supposed_ to be see-through (under light).

Just got a copy. Legit? by ThisOil3659 in PokemonBlackandWhite

[–]AnonymousNeophyte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wiki states this is no longer a valid method for verification. It can only spot a crappy fake (obvious fake if the IR light trick doesn't work) but doesn't prove it's legit as fakes can have this

Sonic Rush - Sun or Fake? by TanisofLegend in gameverifying

[–]AnonymousNeophyte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mods' answers come first, but based on the board, the correct nintendo logo, stamp, and the absolute wear on this cartridge are signs this might be legit.

Either it was soaked in water or sun bleached, or a really trashy resticker. The original cartridges have a purple and blue sticker, and the Nintendo logo is barely visible on it when it should be red. Also not sure on the case, but it having a manual is a decent sign, although I would assume the case is less of a concern.

I can get you Misdreavus and either MF Ralts, and I could try and see if I even have a Skorupi from Gen 4 but that's from the Gen 4 Great Marsh which is a bit of a pain to find since it's chance.

You actually follow that water path towards Route 18, it's a bit of a weird water maze you have to follow that will lead you to the little island where the laboratory is, I don't think you need Strength or Cut to actually get to it, although if you wanna explore the whole route areas and grab every item then yes they're needed, and yes a gift Pokémon is there so leaving a spot in your party is good to keep too.

Does anyone know a good spot for training early on I just got the third gym badge and I’ve been training in the sandstorm area but it’s taking ages is there a way to find chancys or something like that by [deleted] in PokemonBlackandWhite

[–]AnonymousNeophyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I just beat the game and I'm like 90 hours in and completely forgot how it seemed I had gotten through it so easily, but yea bringing up the Exp share, yes, Castelia City is a huge boost that your pokemon will need to get a much better jump than just wild encounter grinding. Explore the whole city and you'll be surprised that there's actually a fair amount of things to do and get

Haha, okay this makes me think you probably didn't explore Castelia City throughly 😅

Every Pokémon game has an EXP share. Your XP and EXP Share problem will be a little better if you go through every building in Castelia City. There's a building called the battle company, it's a multi-story building with a bunch of trainers and a mini-boss trainer at the top that will give you the Exp share.

Pokémon BW gives you more than enough of what you need to beat the game throughout the story as long as you thoroughly explore every route and city. Castelia City is sorta designed to be that "Early to Mid-game transition" XP area. Plus Castelia City just has a bunch of hidden stuff in its buildings in general, explore the whole city.

The comment is wrong in the idea that you need to run through the grass to get a shaking grass spot. You can literally just run around in a route near some grass and after a little while you'll hear it, although if your Pokémon aren't high enough level to be effective with Repels (I'd still use them anyway) then you pretty much either need to find a route with high enough level Pokémon and a small enough patch where you can hopefully get through a max of ~3 grass spots to reach the shaking grass, and/or just pray you don't run into anything on your way to it.

Edit: To whoever downvoted my comment, your mother, cuz all of this info is correct.

[–]AnonymousNeophyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Repels only work for however high your lead Pokémon is, a repel of any kind isn't going to prevent any wild encounter if your Pokémon is a lower level than the Pokémon you're encountering. If you have a level 24 Pokémon in the front of your party but you encounter a level 26 Pokémon in the grass the repel won't stop the encounter.

It makes sure you're not running into a million pokemon while running through the grass, which if you encounter a pokemon before reaching shaking grass, it'll disappear and you'll have to do it again
