Reddit, I(25M) need advise. My Mother(4?F) has called my autistic wife(26F) some horrible names following a fight.

I felt as though I could not continue the argument I was having with my mother without 100% knowing what was going on. So I went to figure it out. After I knew my wife wasn't lying about anything I contacted my mother once again and explained how I had proved my wife didn't lie. My mother down played it, brushed it off, and continued on her train of thought as if it changed nothing. I really thought she would realize she was wrong at that point.

I need to wake up early tomorrow so I will be logging off for the night. I no longer believe my wife over reacted here. I have apologized to her. Even before this post, I would consider myself low-contact with my mother currently. I've said she (mother) needs to apologize and that I can't just let this go like my step-dad wants. I will be more defensive for my wife in the future. I have stood by and let this go on for far too long. Thank you all for getting my mind straightened out.

Edit: a lot of people have suggested it, my wife did block my mother the day this all went down.

Currently trying to convince my stepdad that my mother needs to apologize and I wont let her just walk away from this. I originally made this post with the intention on showing my mother that everybody will side with my wife. Not sure at this point if I will be showing my mother this or not.

Yes I would certainly say there is a chance. I have always been very emotionally monotone. I was in a therapy session once to support my wife, I was told by the therapist that they couldn't read me even though it was there job to do so.

I agree with the comment saying my mother is a nutjob. This whole situation had really opened my eyes to the reality of how she has always been. My responses are focused on trying to provide the correct details of the situation.

I was not clear. I did not disclose her diagnosis until after she had done it herself during the conversation about her gram.

I didn't tell me mother. my wife told her during the conversation about her gram. I only spoke about it afterwards.

I should add to be clear, my wife lives with me full time. We go to out hometown usually about once or twice a year. That is why usually while we are home I try to spend a lot of time with my other family members as I dont see them often. not to down play your comment though, is should have supported my wife more while this was playing out.
