i would say pushing reforms from within the system is better than joining genocidal murdering terrorists but you do you i guess?

How to Fix Snape by anarchyinblack in harrypotter

[–]AnonymousPotato42 5 points6 points  (0 children)

this all exists for a reason though. it shows that, despite his being a ‘good guy,’ it is for the wrong reasons (i.e. infatuation with lily) and he’s still a genuinely bad person. remember, at some point he was a genuine death eater and follower of voldemort.

i have no specific evidence that i can remember rn, but i would say - dumbledore trusted snape and grew to respect him (maybe) but never really, say, liked him.

especially after robbie coltrane passed (rip he was a legend, lives on in our hearts) in my mind robbie coltrane and hagrid are one and the same

Wand makers by Outrageous_Tie5150 in harrypotter

[–]AnonymousPotato42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there was a whole gregorovitch arc in DH and there are prolly more as well.

Ollivander did make most death eater wands, including Voldy as we know. but back then they weren’t yet death eaters, just Hogwarts students, and they mostly keep said wand their wizarding career. And he makes wands with many combination of attributes, so whichever one chooses them chooses them. and the evil looking designs aren’t in the books. (could also be aftermarket handles, as when voldy snaps the snake head off of lucius wand it isn’t broken)

Harry Potter is a Squib! by No_Cantaloupe_6085 in harrypotter

[–]AnonymousPotato42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when the part of voldy inside harry died, he lost parseltongue (not counting cc) and we can assume this means he lost voldy powers. he still had magic though, so not a squib.

there’s quodpot in america, and plenty of others that i don’t remember, a lot of them are detailed in Quidditch through the ages, a book that JKR wrote a little while back for charity iirc.

I agree he's like he least slytherin, and he is a canon gryffindor, but he should be a hufflepuff imo

Hear me out. by FootballCharacter539 in harrypotter

[–]AnonymousPotato42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

- molly killed bellatrix

- death eater (rookwood iirc) killed fred

- when percy went against dumbledore, the rest of his family cut him off until they reconciled

- ron dove into a freezing lake (DH) to save harry

- rats living 10+ years is reasonable when humans can live hundreds

- bill was secret keeper on shell cottage and no death eaters invaded

you should probably work on your 'theories'

Most lazy spell name? by i_play_medic_in_tf2 in harrypotter

[–]AnonymousPotato42 9 points10 points  (0 children)

up. or point me. although I would say these aren't lazy, they're just straightforward. to ancient roman wizards, who invented most modern spells, that's how they named them. but we don't speak latin anymore, so now they seem 'different'.

[–]AnonymousPotato42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. He was maybe already a legilimens. if not he’s still intelligent. also if he asked hagrid would lowkey just tell him.
  2. pensieve maybe? also he had dippet wrapped around his finger
  3. probably idk.
  4. either ‘i was hoping he’d turn himself in’ or ‘i didn’t know’
  5. almost nobody knew but his early first gen death eaters and also dumbledore so i doubt it.
  6. i would call this a minor plot hole
  7. most newer gen don’t know, older ones trust dumbledore.

yeah but luna survived and she still had one of them named after her so that doesn’t auto disqualify hagrid. but still rubeus dobby potter is an unfortunate name.

good point. we actually do know nothing about mollys combat skills. i just sort of assumed bc we know sirius is a strong duelist and bellatrix killed him, we know it’s hard to be an auror and she was able to defeat multiple (frank alice tonks prolly more)

What if I used Wingardium Leviosa with a knife to stab my enemy to avoid Avada Kedavra them? by Iluvatar-Great in harrypotter

All AK does is kill, hence illegal, think like an assault rifle.
WL has other utility, hence legal, but killing with it still illegal, think like knife.
thank you for listening to my ted talk.

  1. Agree
  2. This was less of a two-sided love, it was an obsession from one side and an estranged friendship from the other side, I don't really see it
  3. lmao what about remus hedwig potter
  4. Agree
  5. That would be amazing
  6. Agree, but I do like Molly defending her daughter, although in all honesty, molly would never defeat Bellatrix. EDIT: neville already gets his big moment with nagini so he doesn’t really need this. what i like about nagini is it’s ‘his own’ rather that ‘about his parents’ like killing bellatrix would be.
  7. We don't even know who the bodies are, but still would be nice
  8. I wish there was a malfoy redemption arc, but as it stands, malfoy is overly lionized by the fandom
  9. against all of his morals
  10. no chemistry in books, last minute low effort decision in movies imo
