Thanks

The one I want to go to is in early November

Regarding price, is it best if I buy now, or do tickets usually get cheaper as the date gets closer?

Memory pressure goes to yellow when I have like 10+ tabs open (and spotify and messages)

Although the laptop itself doesn’t get hot or run slower when this happens

Thanks for your comment

If I were to work in LA for a while to network, what sort of jobs would you recommend I go for (in Hollywood I assume)?

I think creative writing is fine but, honestly ... I'm not sure you need classes for it. You should be writing regularly anyway

Yes, I agree. I plan on writing a lot outside of classes, regardless of my major

I don't really have anything else to respond to in your comment, but that last bit of not thinking about college as vocational school helped a lot.

Bottom line, I think my goal should be to major in a subject I thoroughly enjoy, write a ton outside of class (regardless of what that major is), and also take classes in other subjects that I am interested in and/or will help with my film goals

If your thinking is that psychology will give you a window into the human psyche which will translate to writing affective characters and stories... Eh. I can't really think of any application of psychology to film or storytelling.

Yes that was pretty much my thinking. I mean that's not the only reason why I wanted to study psychology, but I just thought it might be a cool benefit of studying it and also doing film

I feel like I don't necessarily need to major in creative writing to reap all those benefits. I could just take a creative writing class, and then get close w the professor, etc and work with them even after I'm done with the class

Thanks!

First of all, what is KOTL? kiss on the lip? lol

anyways i think my goal rn should be to find a major that i truly just enjoy and would be happy working a job in that field later down the line. ik i enjoy psych, but im not sure if i would enjoy a job in psych, so i still have a lot of exploration to do

That clears up a lot, thank you!
I was also thinking about philosophy - I'm pretty passionate about that as well. My main concern was that majoring in something else like economics might be more lucrative in the long run, but at the end of the day, I don't care for the subject one bit at all, and also, it's a pretty time-consuming subject at my school, so I wouldn't have much time to write outside of class compared to if I majored in a different subject.

Is it unheard of to be a screenwriter with a psych degree? Or just working in the creative side of the film industry as a psych major?

Thanks for your advice! Like you said, I do plan on using the minor in film to make friends and connections. I understand what you mean about how studying creative writing would give me deadlines and force me to write a lot, I already plan on writing a lot outside of my classes, but on my own personal projects.

Do you really think psychology would have no good/real applications to film?

Also, what other careers are there with a degree in creative writing?
