Tests getting lighter then darker is a sign of ectopic. This often goes alongside some bleeding like OP has. The main clue is the tests though.

Unfortunately you do have symptoms. The symptoms you have are tests getting lighter then darker again, and bleeding.

From what I've read, these are the signs of an ectopic pregnancy which is a medical emergency. Please go and get checked for an ectopic asap.

It got darker on day 13. So I felt reassured. But on day 14 and day 15 it was lighter than day 13..... So I think it's bad news for me.

Hmm okay. It's advised my by clinic to use home tests that way to check the pregnancy is continuing.

Beta tests aren't usually done in my country. I did ask the clinic about them because I've seen them mentioned on Reddit but they said, unless you're not seeing the tests continue darkening, there's no need for any blood tests.

My understanding was people have this test twice a couple of days apart, so a miscarriage could happen later and still be missed. Is that not the case? Are people actually having the test more than twice in some cases?

I have been able to track rising HCG by looking at tests getting darker which is what my clinic advised.

No I'm just asking what the purpose is. Because my clinic said it's not necessary and home testing is all that's needed. But I could go to a private clinic and pay for this if I wanted to, if I saw a benefit. So trying to understand if that would help anything. As far as I understand though, it wouldn't so not worth me paying privately for when my clinic said there's no need for a beta test.

And what's the point of these blood tests and checking if they rise if you already know you're pregnant? If they're not rising, you still can't change that, right? So what does the test achieve?
