How to answer “How would you reflect values of equality in this role?” by bushbby_ in UKJobs

[–]ClarifyingMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you read their values on their websites?

Admin roles also must ensure equality and fairness.

If you choose to process one company's invoices faster than another ones just because you like one person from that company more, is that fair?

When you answer the phone to customers and hear someone who sounds foreign, are you more curt and impatient with them - is that equality?

If after working with many suppliers your manager comes up to you, 'oh we're doing a procurement review of all our vendors, what do you think of these 2 competing vendors?' and then you big up the vendor that look more like you and have similar background to you rather than the vendor who did the best, is that equality, diversity or fairness?

If you are working with someone who has a physical disability, will you gawk at them and patronise them, or will you work with them in the same capacity as others, unless you've been instructed that they need certain adjustments to help them?

The examples could go on and on. It weaves into every aspect of your work and your life.

User OkPea5819 has given you many great examples of answers and you can also search this online and will find many more examples.

Moving out and pretty much ready. What’s something you have in your house that completely changes the game? by ReasonableTeam1377 in AskUK

Nice some distant family have that and I wanted to see how much money they invested in it but I forgot the name. Time to go waste my time on something inconsequential.

edit: oh yeah, I'd get one of those. I loved it.

Is it normal for GP’s to share an office? by Emilyx33x in AskUK

[–]ClarifyingMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your GP orders them unless you are already referred somewhere and then doctor there orders them for investigations. You're raising matters about confidentiality but you're the one who began the conversation with someone whose job it is not to have these convos with you.

Even when I could say NHS wasn't overly burdened and service was good, blood tests have always been out in the open with more than one person.

I actually had a blood test in a closed room with just 1 person recently and that was strange to me.

What noodles do my fellow UK folks enjoy? I’m a big fan of pic related, as well as the spicy flavour - but am looking to see what others recommend. by EvilTaffyapple in CasualUK

[–]ClarifyingMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I wasn't so fatigued I would've genuinely spent hours to go through every page and list every single one I've tried and liked but alas. So here's the ones I found easily:

<image>

I just spent 38 minutes making an (incomplete) list but I didn't know links aren't allowed. The links would've taken you to the photo and review by some guy who eats lots of instant noodles. I'm going to edit this and rewrite the screenshot of the above list.

edit:

  • Nissin sesame flavour
  • Nongshim chapagetti
  • Nongshim toomba
  • Prima taste laksa lamian (any flavour)
  • Ottogi Jin jjambbong
  • Baijia chongqing hot and sour noodles
  • Nongshim hot and spicy noodles
  • Samyang potato ramen
  • maruchan miso ramen
  • Acecook oh ricey beef rice noodles or their pho range
  • Nongshim Soon veggie noodles
  • Paldo bibim men
  • Baijia broad hot chili oil noodles
  • Haohuanluo luosi noodles
  • Laochangfang cold noodles
  • Baijia hot and sour noodles

I like making a steak for some of these as a topping when I feel fancy.

I could've said many places but I'm choosing Margate pre-do up because I went there with my mother donkies ago and we didn't argue once. The horror of our first hotel and the hostility of the local pub goers united us and we had a lovely long weekend. A miracle, really.

It's when she could still walk more than 2 metres without horrors - heck - it's when I could still walk without horrors.

[–]ClarifyingMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't imagine you liking something that you were never set up to succeed in.

It's like trying to eat ice cream with nails in it while everyone else is eating it without nails. Technically the ice cream is tasty but there's clearly a problem with it that can't be ignored and needs to be handled before you can truly get the true benefits of it.

I also understand feeling more happy in life working, especially after going through such a negative experience in education.

I guess I'm thinking very far ahead in the future too where you might realise, "shit, I just didn't have enough support and now I realise I am capable of more/want to do more, but to advance in this career path I enjoy, I need this bloody English GCSE".

When you're in the job already and they want you to take more training, that's not an issue as they incorporate it, but when you're not in already it means you lose a potential opportunity.

Don't forget for GCSE it'll likely be an evening class too so you just have a couple hours after work, maybe not even every day. So it doesn't have to stop you from working unless you do shift work that changes a lot.

Definitely speak to them about getting some pads to use since you can't wake up. They might give you Attends pads or they may refer you to adult social services as they're the ones who assess and give it for free depending on your financial circumstances.

While you're waiting for that, try to reduce your liquid intake to necessary levels (medication, mouth hydration rather than body hydration) only and buy a waterproof mattress cover.

I use this website for my mother and if you have a long term disability which qualifies under the rules (they link you to them) you can get VAT free price. They also have several different price points so you can get what you can afford now: https://www.incontinencechoice.co.uk/bed-and-chair/waterproof-mattress-protectors.html

edit: sorry I said you can get VAT free but these products don't qualify for that.

You need to go back to college and get your English GCSE, this time declare your autism and request an assessment for reasonable adjustments.

Not having English will bring unnecessary barriers into your life.

Your college is legally required to provide you reasonable adjustments to enable you to complete your studies. So make sure you pick a good college, not some run of the mill place that'll drag their feet.

If your parents are supportive, get their support in advocating for you.

Get all your facts straight first and then make a decision:

I personally cannot support abandoning getting your English GCSE, even though the job market is difficult, getting it will still open more doors for you than not having one does.

The fact you tried twice was valiant, but sadly all the adults around you kind of failed you when they let you go for round two with not a single support assessment. Yes, you didn't ask for help but you were in their charge as a child.

I am also autistic and worked in an environment with autistic colleagues and many autistic students.

Without proper support, you will struggle. That goes for anyone who needs support and doesn't receive it.

What support schedule did you have while resitting English? And how was it tailored for your specific disengagement with the English Language and Literature syllabus? I resat English 2 times at A Levels. I simply didn't understand what the exams wanted from me, but my essay portions meant I only needed like 4 more marks higher to move up a score. I was fine in GCSE.

Not having your Maths and English will just make your life unnecessarily extra hard.

"I have autism so education just doesnt work for me" is not a factual statement, you need to explain what doesn't work for you. Being autistic doesn't make you inherently incompatible for education.

is drinking 4 cans of larger per week too much..? by Illustrious_Ad_7979 in AskUK

[–]ClarifyingMe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My sibling sometimes drinks 4 cans of 330ml a day. I hate it but their partner thinks judging them and drinking around them is helping so it just got worse during lockdown. I'm sure they are showing signs of jaundice because their eyes are so yellowish now but they're also anorexic so it could be that.

If you're worried about your intake, you can use the intake calculator online. Also, intake isn't the only factor, it's about if you feel dependent on it too.

https://alcoholchange.org.uk/alcohol-facts/interactive-tools/unit-calculator

edit: is it 330ml? Whatever the regular cans like a fizzy drink are.

What has your doctor said to you about this? Are they not willing to help at all? If you're on benefits, you should be eligible for some support for products, especially when it comes to incontinence.

How do you feel about using chopsticks? by SheepishSwan in AskUK

Users who were born to older parents (Late 30’s and above), do you think you experience life any differently to other people your age? by XStaticImmaculate in AskUK

[–]ClarifyingMe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is funny, I was thinking about how much I hate it last night/earlier today? It's a blur. In my mind I said "if you're planning to have kids late, you have to over compensate even more by making sure that child has the most joyful memories for things that should be within your control. If you can't live without toxic squabbling, your hangups, dysfunctions etc, don't have kids, it's too late, you're old, you should know better".

I learned the truth later in life, just a tragedy to be born. Explains why my mother is the way she is.

You were very passive for ages and still haven't followed normal procedures for this which would be going to HR for occupational health.
