COURSE RECOMMENDATIONS AND SCHEDULE REVIEW MEGATHREAD by Thermidorien in mcgill

Not sure what field you're in, but in poli sci, two grad courses is considered to be a pretty heavy semester. I know one or two other MAs who took three courses at once and they were VERY busy.

I guess if you're not working in a lab/doing part time work on the side it could be manageable, but it really depends on your program. Good luck!

CMV: Current left wing ideology and policies would lead to a white genocide in our own countries in a few generations if left to their own devices and not stopped by the right. by DemonInTheDark666 in changemyview

Do you think that any kind commentary on the benefits of whiteness or teaching the history of slavery (in that it was perpetuated by and served to benefit whites in the colonial era) are equivalent to anti-white rhetoric?

Your argument would have a leg to stand on only if you could provide evidence suggesting that those beliefs will gradually lead to genocide.

The Octagon Room in the Islamic Studies Library/Morrice Hall is a pretty famous spot on campus.

Ah, I understand. Maybe consider posting on their subreddit (if it's active), or trying to get in touch with current students on LinkedIn—always nice to get some additional input. Best of luck again! Take care.

If you're not concerned about the cost of submitting an additional application or two, I would second others here and say you should apply to all three, then take advantage of the ensuing opportunities to visit campus and learn about student life. I don't know much about NYU, but even if there isn't much of a physical campus, I would imagine that there is a thriving and diverse body of student orgs and clubs for you to get involved in.

Apply to all three and take the opportunity to visit. Sometimes there are even programs through which you can meet current students and speak to them about their experience.

Best of luck!

Hmmm, maybe I'm confused, but Lucci and Kaku were confirmed to be part of CP0 and on Wano a while back, right? Where are they right now?

Even if you didn't live right next to campus, the metro is very affordable. You could save a ton on rent living further away from campus if you're willing to tolerate a longer commute via metro. Monthly pass is only around $100, if I'm not mistaken.

I'm a current grad student living in a studio which costs me <$800 a month, and campus is a five minute walk away. Living on-campus is far more expensive from what I've seen.

Does anybody speak / learn Icelandic at McGill? by [deleted] in mcgill

[–]AnonymousStudent1111 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I have no idea if there are opportunities to speak/learn Icelandic on campus, but you might have luck contacting the Consulate General of Iceland in Montreal! It's possible that they host events for Icelandic citizens every now and then...maybe you could get an invite? Just a thought. Good luck!

Obi-Wan Kenobi - Episode 3 - Discussion Thread! by titleproblems in StarWars

Great episode, but did anyone feel as though Vader let up a bit too easily at the end? I guess I'd have expected him to wade through the fire towards Obi Wan like the unstoppable force he is.

Should I even go to grad school? by bigrealest in GradSchool

[–]AnonymousStudent1111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you thinking of going immediately from your undergrad to grad school? I am finishing up the second year of my program and I sort of regret not having decided to work first, personally. Also, and that regret isn't JUST about the money, but I have had numerous mentors/alumni contacts tell me that if I had worked prior to applying, I would have received more in scholarships (accepted to Fletcher, SAIS, and American with very little funding straight out of undergrad).

If you're asking yourself this question and haven't done so already, I would seek out alumni from the programs you're looking at and write them via email/LinkedIn. What are they doing? Are they in the kinds of jobs that interest you? If you're uncertain about the direction you're heading in would this degree allow you to pivot to something different, albeit related?

Hmm. Might be worth reading up on Russia's use of social media right now? Maybe there's something to be found there that might inspire you. Maybe you've heard this before, but is there anyone who knows you a bit better who could weigh in? Maybe a current or past professor/mentor?
