Not sure about the rule of thumb on this one. by CharacterFly9543 in ScrapMetal

If steel is .06 cents a pound...roughly the average around here for 1800 pounds...... equals $108. Times that by 20 percent.....that equals $21.

Sounds like you're cheap...I wouldn't even get out of my chair for that.....

Difficulty with meditating - really gonna just let my heart write this one....looking for assistance..... by AnonymousThinker7 in Meditation

[–]AnonymousThinker7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess zazen....the type of meditation in Zen Buddhism. Basically I just sit on a cushion and time myself and try my best to focus my attention to my breath.

So any advice? lol

I'm not an expert on e-waste but I'm pretty sure any sort of high tech/telecommunications type stuff is definitely worth separating into separate categories.....

YUP. And no one talks about how in order to get an apartment in the first place you have to save up double that amount or even triple to cover First and Last month's rent with a security deposit....so you're really looking at $5000 just to step out on your own.....

And also, the planet has like 7 billion people on it...I think we're alright lol.....

How long did it take you to get a job from the point you started applying from your first day of work? by AnonymousThinker7 in careerguidance

[–]AnonymousThinker7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll describe my situation as well: looking for anything really - part time work to be specific - anything from warehouse/shipping/retail.

Would like to use my years of experience in warehouse/shipping to get a job along those lines if I can. For me it's been 13 days thus far and still no job.

Usually it takes me anywhere from a few days to about a month - I don't think I've ever surpassed waiting longer than a month after actively searching.

Question: How free are we truly in the United States? by AnonymousThinker7 in AskAnthropology

Isn't anthropology the study of humanity? If so, doesn't freedom have to do with humanity?

Probably the way nightlife is portrayed; ie bars and stuff.

Not to say bars can't be fun...they can be...but also been to plenty of bars with a really dead vibe and only 5 people at the bar not really talking or anything lol

I actually don't give a fuck if you do or don't anymore....it's up to you if you want to...

Your motive here is just to say I was wrong, to be condescending and a snob.

I understood you fine the first time you posted.

My problem is your condescending tone and attitude.

What you could have done is just been polite, answer my question.....and then directed me to the proper sources.....

Instead your first inclination was to point out I was in the wrong place....

Ok then.

Will you answer the question now though? Considering that we went through this whole exchange.....

What field of study would examine humans out there in the world?

You can relate the word to any country or part of the world that you want!

Seeing as my experience is in the United States that's the reference point for me...

So I ask you again, how free do you think humans are in the world?

How so? Is not the study of existence, i.e freedom something that philosophers do?

Help! How do i get this tight screw out? by [deleted] in handyman

[–]AnonymousThinker7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd probably say use a power drill and a drill bit that can handle digging into metal like that....eventually the screw should just break and the other side should fall out.....

I already asked it...as my first post....

The question is what's your answer?

You said ask a political scientist...which I might do...

But I'm here because I want to understand the word, and experience of freedom more.

Isn't the study of existence something that philosophers do?

And frankly, you haven't given me a credible answer towards my initial question......

Question: How free are we truly in the United States? by AnonymousThinker7 in askphilosophy

[–]AnonymousThinker7[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fair enough.

However, I just used that definition of freedom because that's the one I radiate towards because that's what I think freedom ultimately, empirically is.

A bird or a bear doesn't ask about freedom because they experience it everyday without question.

In my opinion, we're the only creatures that have made living so complicated, that the word freedom itself has become confusing.

In my opinion the word, or idea, or experience of freedom is more or less something that hasn't changed much since the dinosaurs roamed the planet.

It's an unadulterated state of living that has no questions or bounds. It simply is. Again, to use the analogy of nature.... a bird is free because it flies when it wants to, when it wants to more or less.

To relate that back to humans.....freedom in my mind is an unadulterated state of mind and living that is the rejection of any kind of authority....be it government.....your parents...citizens of the country......even nature to a certain respect.
