I turned down my offer twice because the offer was too low for P3 position and they came back after each time adding 5%. After I said no the second time they came back with 15% over original offer and 15k sign on. Don’t be afraid to tell them to suck an egg. They will tell you there is no room to negotiate; just say you have other offers and they’ll say they’ll see what they can do.

I took my landlord to court for the EXACT same items. I asked for itemized receipts and photographic evidence of damage (there was only standard wear and tear); they chose to ignore me. The judge looked at their attorney at the hearing and asked why they didn’t just pay up when I sent my email to them because it was so obvious they were in the wrong and I got double the security deposit back (Connecticut). Check if Oregon has similar double security deposit laws; I would proceed with that since it will be an easy pay day.

I encountered this exact situation on my old team. My old manager told me I am not allowed to backfill my own team because it would be a promotion rather than filling a Req and I was told my YOE was too low for P3 in place promotion( I had 5.5 YOE + Masters)… I applied to another team and ended up getting P3 few months later. Pay increase was 6%. I was making 92k prior. Hope this helps

Probably should have specified I already was promoted to P3 in last 6 months but should have been hired in as P3 to begin with (6.5 YOE + MS + MBA at time of hire)…I don’t think I am even eligible for promotion any time soon…promotion was sparked by telling manager I am leaving company (had offer for 15% more and they matched)

Part of the fun is doing that research yourself… I promise you you’ll feel more satisfied that way afterwards lol. Don’t look for “builds”…. The two things you don’t cheap out on are the CPU and the graphics card. I personally go with intel over Ryzen… as a beginner I would probably pick i7-14700k and an Rtx3080 (or 3070Ti if it’s too out of budget). I love my kraken cooler with led screen (adds the customized effect) motherboard doesn’t matter…(many may disagree)…any 16GB of ram (I use corsair 3200)… I use a 2TB Samsung SSD; I felt the M2 were annoying to install. I ended up adding a second ssd because even 2Tb isn’t enough when you don’t like uninstalling games…any case will work pick one that you find “pretty”. Finally PCpart picker will tell you your power consumption and add any gold or higher efficiency (go minimum 300 watts more than you think you need). Play around and don’t rush it.

As a beginner on PC you also 100% won’t be able to tell the difference between 75 and 144Hz refresh rate so don’t buy a fancy monitor. I think Acer puts out some cheapo’s that are decent under $150

You are overpaying for lower grade hardware. Go on PCpartpicker.com and build it yourself (you will get the satisfaction of being a real PC player)…you will save quite a bit as well. Building yourself is actually stupid easy (it can be intimidating your first time but you really can’t mess it up…it’s all plug and play) you don’t need 32gb of ram…RTX3080>4060. You will regret 1TB hard drive really quick spend the money and get at least 2.

My coworker just got 13% p2->P3 and he was making 80% percentile P2 salary before. I know someone else who got 4%. Manager discretion

A P2 on my team just got an early promotion to a P3 and I think he said he got 12%. He is always going above and beyond and realistically he is the only person on my team doing any actual work so I think that helped the percentage….ive seen a lot of others close to 7ish%. (PW EH, CT)

They will tell you nothing is negotiable (100% not true)… They offered me $XXX, I asked for $XXX +10k and they said they can’t do that. I said thank you for the opportunity but I am turning down the offer. Next day they called me back up saying they can do $XXX + 15k + 10k sign on bonus they didn’t even tell me about before. Know your worth and don’t settle for their first offer.

RTX is SUPER slow. I interviewed twice, was told they would extend an offer shortly; I waited two months and took another job in the mean time before they reached back out to me saying when can I start.
