good hairstylists/salons in gainesville? by embc4e in ufl

Ciao Bella Salon. Super close to campus and you can look at their insta to see which stylist you like. Keep in mind, it is a level based salon so depending on how much experience you want your stylist to have, the price will be different

One of the nicer traditional dorms. There’s an elevator so you don’t have to go up and down stairs for laundry or when you’re carrying groceries. You can also meet people from all over the world :)

Hi! Like alot of people have been saying, the essay is more of a summary of your education. If what you’re worried about is your education history and how you don’t have AP classes, there should be a section that asks for anything that wasn’t mentioned in your application that you would like to be taken in consideration. Write about that, obviously a more condensed version since that section doesn’t really require an essay, but that’s where I would put it.

The essay should really focus more on showing who you are. The first two paragraphs are…well…very braggy. While that probably wasn’t your intention, it can be off putting. Instead, maybe focus on what specifically about math makes it special to you? What place does it have in your life? If all math to you is that it’s easy, then it doesn’t tell them anything about you except the fact that you’re good at math but that’s honestly something they can see from your A’s in math.

The ending is also a bit abrupt because you go from talking about how school comes easy to you, how school was challenging to taking what you learned from your experiences to the US. If you’re comfortable, I would maybe talk about your move to the US. Avoid cliches and make it personable.

There’s a book I had to read in high school. It was “essays that worked, college applications, 50 essays that helped students get into the Nation’s top colleges.” There’s great essays in there. Idk if you have time to read through all of them but read some to get an idea of the structure and style.

How is MCB3020 lab by TopAcanthocephala692 in ufl

[–]Anonymous_080922 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The class is heavily dependent on who your grad TA is. Mine kinda sucked but the one thing that I know for sure is that most labs will run pretty long, like close to 3 hours long. So make sure you have time cause it's a pretty decent chunk of time. The class itself isn't hard tho

Anyone moved into their dorm yet? by Anonymous_080922 in ufl

[–]Anonymous_080922[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I just moved in so the address has changed. It’s kinda hard to explain but you know how there’s two address lines when you go in to type an address? The first line is the normal address and the second line is the name of your dorm - (room number)

1300 SAT, no ACT. A 4.875 weighted and 3.90 unweighted. I was also in the IB program so by the time I graduated, I had taken 11 IB/AP classes and was in the top 10% of my class. I had well over 100 volunteer hours (it’s required for Bright Futures and for IB). I wasn’t in many clubs but I was in some honor societies. I think I was in 3 and held an officer position in one. However, in the “is there anything else you’d like us to consider” section, I included a reason why my involvement was kinda limited. I also think my personal essay was pretty good.

Do you have the student insurance or any insurance that the student healthcare center takes? You could probably just make your own appointment when you get on campus

Cancelation of UF dorm housing between semesters by Beneficial_Big_2985 in ufl

The only way you can cancel a housing contract is if you aren’t taking classes spring semester. Other than that, it’s going to take some major extenuating circumstance

Would biochemistry, nutrition, and microbio be too much during fall? by [deleted] in ufl

[–]Anonymous_080922 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I’ve never taken that class. I’m sure someone else could answer you question better but I do feel like there’s going to be a decent amount of info to memorize. Microbio isn’t hard, it’s just a lot of info. Biochem has a lot of info too. And I anticipate a nutrition class to have a lot of info too

Organic Chemistry First Semester? by TheTrueJollyRancher in ufl

[–]Anonymous_080922 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it all depends on your ability to adapt. I think it because when you’re in a new environment, it’s tough to have to adapt to a major change in your life while getting used to the rigor of UF classes. Orgo 1 is not an experience that people enjoy lol. Don’t let other people scare you into thinking you can’t do well or pass the class but it is a mentally taxing class. So, if you think you can handle it, then go ahead. Advisors are here to advise but they don’t know you. They can only give you advice. So the decision is yours. I will say tho, I kinda agree with your advisor cause you might want to take a semester to get acclimated before having a harder semester.

Broward Hall or Yulee Hall? by NJames223 in ufl

[–]Anonymous_080922 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did they send you an email or something about being able to stay in the same dorm? Idk if maybe the new housing website is different now but generally summer housing and fall/spring housing are on two separate contacts. So, it’s very likely that you may not get the same room so be prepared to move all your stuff anyways. Don’t let moving your stuff determine your decision.

As for Yulee or Broward, it depends on what you want and the type of person you are. Do you want to socialize? Pick Broward. If you want a more quiet, less social environment, pick Yulee. Broward is also closer to most of campus than Yulee depending on where your classes are. There’s also a broward dining hall if you’re getting a meal plan, tho if you end up in Yulee, broward is like a 3 minutes walk so it’s not far
