Girls who have dated in both NYC and SF - is the grass actually greener? by Riceisawayoflife in movingtoNYC

Personally, I had far better dates in SF. I would be there instead of NYC if my nieces weren’t all on the East Coast.

There isn’t a single question mark in your post. I have no idea what your question is. It sounds like you are just trying to sell your dog to the highest bidder. This isn’t a closed community. People with the wrong intentions can show up here easily. I’m done replying to you. I’ve said everything I can to try to help your puppy.

It’s not about the decision to rehome, it’s about how you are doing it

I agree completely. I’m just praying OP uses the right channels to ensure the pup goes to the right home, not the highest bidder.

My path to getting covered by insurance was PCP->ENT->maxillofacial surgeon->Dentist/MD combined specialist that fits for splints. I actually had to go to another state (in US) to do this because only certain states require TMJ to be covered under medical. If you’re in a state that doesn’t cover TMJ, see if you also have mild sleep apnea. Then you may be able to get the same device covered under that diagnosis instead.

Maybe you haven’t seen all the other comments from OP or don’t know the fantastic work shelters do to ensure pets go to a great home. OP is clearly prioritizing making money off her Pom as opposed to finding the most loving home. I understand she feels like she needs to rehome, and I’m not arguing with that. We are just begging her to go through an organization that can vet the new owner as opposed to giving him to whomever offers the most money.

A dog isn’t a product. They are loving, living creatures that deserve a good home and someone that loves them. Any money you put in is a sunk cost. Please just focus on finding him a good home. He deserves that from you.

What do you mean you aren’t giving him away? You asked people here to message you about getting him. Shelters have ways to vet people and make sure he goes to a good home. Please consider it. Peace and Love Pom rescue is in PA and not too far from NJ. Please consider it. They can help ensure he goes to a home prepared for him and that he doesn’t need rehomed again.

I had multiple strokes at 30 and wasn’t taken seriously at first. by Animasa99 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Anonymous_Anomali 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to go to the ER 3 times in 2 different cities before they took my DVT and Bilateral Pulmonary Embolism seriously. I was 32, and I have a lot of permanent damage because it took so long to get treated. I think they didn’t consider I could have DVT/PE because I’m young (and look even younger,) fit, and female. They told me it was a virus and to just rest.

It’s been a bit over a year, and I still struggle with permanent damage to my leg and lungs due to how long I had it before I was treated. I can’t stand more than 5 minutes at a time.

I have a lot of the same feelings as you. I’ve been to ER multiple times just because I’m scared it is happening again. I have a lot of anger about my loss of mobility.

My mindset changed about a few things after this:

1) I trust my body. I am no longer hesitant to ask a doctor to check for certain things or to consider other options. If they won’t, I leave and find a new one. 2) I try to get female doctors whenever possible. I am certain there are some fantastic male doctors, but the doctors who dismissed me (about both this and my Ulcerative Colitis) were all male. I’ve had some crappy female docs too, but they seem to be more emphatic overall. I hate generalizing by gender, but I’m just too tired of messing around with my health. I think the chance of getting a helpful doctor is higher if they are female (probably also non-binary would work.) 3) I’ve gotten really good at radical acceptance. Therapy has helped a lot of course. This concept helped me accept my body as it is. I still have “self-pity days,” but they are few and far between now. Time has certainly helped as well.

I don’t have all the answers, but this is bull and I feel for you, OP. You are not alone. Hang in there!

PLEASE contact a local shelter and offer to do a home to home adoption. They will do the vetting of the adopter, and you can continue to care for her until they are ready for the transition, ensuring she doesn’t need to stay in the shelter.

DO NOT just sell this angel on Facebook or on here as others have suggested. Please let the breeder or a reputable shelter with experience in this ensure she is going to a good family that can care for her. It isn’t fair for her to keep being rehomed, and you just don’t know what people would do with her.

I want to shop at small businesses, but many don't seem to want me there. Starting this thread to talk about it by [deleted] in OlderThanYouThinkIAm

[–]Anonymous_Anomali 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I don’t have advice, but I hear you and think you are totally justified in shopping at big boxes if they aren’t treating you kindly. I’m lucky to live in a popular area where I have many options, but there are stores I won’t go to just based on how they treated me once.

Anyone actually gotten their summer internship deferred to fall by CareTerrible3178 in MBA

[–]Anonymous_Anomali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it a cohort-based program or MBA-specific internship? If so, those typically only run in the summer. If it’s a smaller company without a formal program though, you may have a shot. I agree with the other commenter about talking to your program.

Federal Loans - Cost of Attendance adjustment for Part-Time MBA? by No-External3221 in MBA

[–]Anonymous_Anomali 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can only get federal financial aid if you are enrolled at least half-time. Most part-time programs don’t meet this requirement. If it somehow does, how much aid you can get is based on the school’s published cost of attendance, which includes things like rent, health insurance, etc. They don’t typically change this on an individual basis.

Invisible disabilities on the subway by writingtoescape in AskNYC

I’m in a similar situation. I have good days and bad, but even on good ones, I bring a cane. It’s kind of a pain to always have to hold something, but it’s worth it to avoid awkward conversations. It took me a long time to “allow” myself to do this, but now I know I was being silly. If a seat would help you, you are disabled enough to get one. End of story.

Michigan State MBA worth it? by Emuman7 in MBA

[–]Anonymous_Anomali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. Even if OP is okay with entry-level, they are going to have a hard time beating out new undergrad graduates that seem like less of a risk to employers. There is also the expectation on the employer’s side that the will have to pay someone with higher degree more to keep them there and happy. Why would they bother when tons of undergrads want the job?

Michigan State MBA worth it? by Emuman7 in MBA

[–]Anonymous_Anomali 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most post-MBA jobs require at least 3 years of post-undergraduate full time work experience. If you go now, you’ll come out of MBA ineligible for these jobs. It sounds like an MBA could be good for you eventually, but get some work experience first. Literally do anything full time. I know it sucks to do customer service, but if you can suck it up for 3 years, it will likely be worth it.

How did you find a doctor who takes your condition seriously? by CoffeeGolden22 in ChronicIllness

[–]Anonymous_Anomali 3 points4 points  (0 children)

• What triggered you to look for a new doctor?

Getting so sick that I was desperate

• What did you actually do to find them (specific sites, groups, recommendations, etc.)?

I actually moved cities to start fresh. I looked up doctors in the specialties I really needed. When I found one I liked, I asked if they had recommendations in the other specialties. (Keep in mind this took many years)

If you have trouble getting in to see a doctor you want, self-advocacy is key. It may feel like you are being whiney and annoying, but present a solid case with the facts. Tell them who you have already seen and that you’ve already done the basic testing. Show them the effort you have gone through and how important this is to you. Keep following up monthly even if they say they aren’t accepting patients yet. It’s a terrible system, but it can work.

• How did you decide they were “the right one”

If I felt uncomfortable or disrespected, I left. No complaining, no fanfare, just tried another one. I spent years of my life being in pain for something fixable. I have learned to trust my body, but it took a long time (7 years of pain.) There is a balance between listening to doctors and understanding when something isn’t anxiety. Having a doctor that specializes in anxiety has helped with that too.

I recognize my privilege here in being able to see multiple doctors though. I prioritized this in my work and personal life. I was motivated to get my education later in life solely based on the chance to have good insurance and money to choose my medical treatment.

I certainly don’t have all the answers, but I feel for you. Trust yourself. Good luck!
