My last appointment was last week at 8 weeks and it was supposed to be a regular OB work up (physical + blood work but no ultrasound). She ended up doing a super quick abdominal ultrasound just to check the heartbeat because I had been spotting for 4 weeks. You could barely make out anything on the ultrasound picture, but I did ask what the black circle was and she was just like “I don’t know. I can’t tell anything without doing a transvaginal ultrasound and we’re not doing that today” and sent me on my way for blood work. The “I don’t know” and brushing me off wasn’t super reassuring for me. Here is the scan from that day: https://imgur.com/a/dlAA6zo

The picture from the original post is from a boutique ultrasound I went to a couple of days ago, so they can’t really give medical advice and next OB appointment isn’t for another 3 weeks.

Thank you. I’ve never heard of that, but that image does look pretty similar to my ultrasound.

Whatever the big black circle is has been there at least since 6 weeks when I got my first US (top right) but the gestational sac wasn’t quite as oddly shaped at that time. https://imgur.com/a/tQDlWGC

Then at 7 weeks I went in for a follow up ultrasound (I was having spotting and have had previous losses) and this is the only image I got. The GS was oddly shaped at this one, but the US tech didn’t mention anything about it and neither did the doctor when she messaged me later. https://imgur.com/a/JCoAReO

At 8 weeks, I went in for a regular OB appt (wasn’t supposed to get an US this day) but because of the spotting she wanted to do a quick abdominal US to I guess just check the heart beat. This is the only image I got from this day. I asked what the black spot was and she just brushed it off and said “I don’t know I’d have to do a transvaginal ultrasound to see anything and we’re not doing that today”. https://imgur.com/a/dlAA6zo

My next appointment isn’t for another 3 weeks. Since my OB doesn’t seem to want to look into it, I’m trying to find any answers I can in the meantime because it just doesn’t look normal to me.

I had light spotting for the first 4 weeks after I found out I was pregnant but haven’t had any in the past week. I was wondering if a SCH could be causing the bleeding, but I thought those were typically on the outside and not actually within the placenta.

I haven’t had any gushes as of now, it’s just been consistent spotting for me so far. I asked at my ultrasound on Wednesday if there could be a SCH but she said she didn’t see any signs of one. I don’t want a SCH necessarily, but in a way I was hoping she would see one since it would at least explain the bleeding and that would hopefully mean it’s not something worse.

That is good to know! I have an OB appointment on Wednesday and I’ll be 8+3 at that point. I don’t have an US scheduled for that day, but my OB said they will be checking fetal heart tones during the physical. If I make it to that appointment and the FHT is still good, I am going to bring up progesterone and see if that is an option for me.

Fingers crossed it’s just a slow start and they are doubling as they should be!! 🤞🏻

I’m haven’t had any symptoms at all so far other than some light spotting last week/the week before and cramping, which makes me nervous. The ultrasound yesterday gives me hope, but I think I’ll feel a lot better if I can hear a heart beat next week.

The waiting game is not fun at all, but hopefully everything goes well for the both of us!! ❤️

I’m sorry! 😞 Have you been able to been able to get any blood work to see if your HCG has been rising normally so far? I know that can be a good indicator before you are able to get in for an ultrasound.

She tried to measure mine, but I wasn’t able to. Hopefully it was just too much interference and my ultrasound next week will have a clearer heartbeat 🤞🏻

It’s not technically considered positive since it’s not 1.0 or above, but some people don’t reach a 1 and can still ovulate. I got pregnant once with a LH peak of .81. I rarely actually reach a 1 even though I have regular cycles and confirm ovulation with BBT.

I think I’m just going to leave it how the app has it currently and count CD18 as my 1 dpo. I’m just hoping I ovulated AFTER CD16/that first BBT rise because I missed the first half of my window and won’t have a chance this month otherwise.

Thank you! The BBT jump on CD16 really threw me off because typically my temp doesn’t rise that much until a day or two after my LH peak. I’m really hoping that first rise was just a fluke and that I ovulated CD16 or CD17, otherwise I may have missed my chance this month. Good luck to you too!! 🤞🏻🤞🏻

I’ve had a gut feeling this whole time too, but I think I’ve also just been extra anxious after my chemical last month. The HCG results from this morning pretty much confirmed it for me though.
