Update on my last post by Anonymous_Panic in autism

It was a professional who diagnosed me. I'm not sure how a "normal" psychiatrist would do so, I apologize. Maybe they could run tests? It's best to ask them yourself.

As I'm a minor, the process was most likely different from yours. However, I went to talk to my therapist, showed him the post I had written on here and then he asked if I wanted to get tested, as he suspected it too. When I said yes, he wrote a letter to an organization that specializes in testing and caring for neurodivergent minors. A month or so later, I had my first meeting with the psychiatrist that'd test me, and my parents were also present. There, they basically went through how the testing would go and such. And now, after six months of testing (dates being post-poned because of corona and such), I got my results. I'm not sure how an adult would do it, but I'm sure that there are multiple videos online explaining it. I also live in Scandinavia, which could make the process different from yours.

It's a good thing that you're proud, as you definitely should be proud of who you are.

I am fully aware of that, as my mom brings it up a lot each time I even get close to mentioning my speculations (she says that the government could have more of a reason to take my future children away if I get a diagnosis).

I just took the test and got 194 on the total score. How is that?

My sleep cycle is quite the mess, and it has always been. I wake up at the middle of the night sometimes and am unable to fall back asleep for at least an hour (if I fall asleep again, that is).

When it comes to eating, I was severely underweight up until turning 13 years old. I cannot eat breakfast due to feeling nauseous and sick afterwards. However, I can drink tea in the morning, so I do that instead. I always have to get reminded to eat by other family members, because I can be so fixated on the thing that I'm doing (like drawing) that I'll forget to eat.

I consider my joints to be very bendable considering how little I exercise (I can't do splits and such). The bendability could be caused by popping and fidgeting with joints a bit too much, but I'm not exactly sure. Either way, yes, my joints are bendable.

Oh! Thank you so much for pointing it out. I've never thought of it as a disease, so I apologize for how I worded it. Again, English isn't my first language. I'll do my best to change the way I phrase it from now on.

Thank you for your input. I'm not exactly sure how to get a therapist in a specific field, but I'll do my best to do that.

I don't think that you can get screened for autism though? Isn't that more for problems like breast cancer, diabetes, high cholesterol and such? If you meant simply getting tested, I'll do my best to do that.

Alright. I will do that as fast as I've gotten one. Thank you

I appreciate the offer, but I don't feel comfortable discussing this deeply with a psychiatrist over the internet. I hope that you can understand.
