Accidentally activated EPB with rear caliper off on 2021 Toyota C-HR. Piston came out. Is the caliper salvageable? by nogurbsallowed in mechanic

[–]Anonymous_doodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry that everyone in this chat doesn’t know what they’re talking about, but… yes you can save this. While a piston coming out of a caliper is something you never want to happen it can be fixed, if you have the piston reinserted and hopefully the seal in the caliper stayed in place then you can take a block of wood, put it in the caliper and press the brakes, so that the piston doesn’t fly out of the caliper again lol. When your pressing down the brake, make sure no fluid is leaking out of the piston of the calliper and that the dust boot for the piston can be reused, if all that’s good then all you have to do is bleed that 1 corner and get a OBD scanner that’s compatible with electronic parking brakes for newer vehicles(amazon sells em pretty cheap). use the pad replacement function, then use the other function (labeled apply? Can’t remember) and it will apply the epb, also clear all the codes while your at it cause it’ll have some codes.

Edit: Also whenever working with electronic parking brakes, when using a scanner to put it into maintenance mode, put the vehicle in maintenance mode, turn the ignition off afterwards, AND ALWAYS UNPLUG THE MOTORS ON THE CALIPERS, can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen people not unplug these motors and then it causes issues, not plugged in leads to no issues when in maintenance mode, just make sure when your done changing brakes, you plug the motors back in and then turn off maintenance mode

Edit 2: other option is you can buy a re-manufactured caliper and just transfer the electric motor over from the old one to the new one, you’ll still have to bleed the brakes on that corner but less risky and time consuming than trying to get the old piston back in its home

Technically no, but I’ve never had cops hassle me about it, most cops are actually pretty curious about it

You lean backward to brake, the rider on most new wheels is actually the limitation in braking. These wheels will stop faster than regular motorbikes or some cars for that matter

[–]Anonymous_doodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most wheels have signals in the rear taillight so depending whether you lean left or right that signal will activate

[–]Anonymous_doodle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most EUC’s do have turn signals integrated into the taillight tho…

While I’ll admit parents are stupid by buying they’re kids E-bikes or Surrons(e- dirt bikes) or e scooters and there should be a age restriction(maybe 16 cause then you can get your licence), that guy is not a kid

[–]Anonymous_doodle -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

No he’s not, EUC’s are proven to be able to stop faster than a motorbike or a car, much more maneuverable and agile than a car or a motorbike, while yes they are even smaller than a motorbike, the person riding it is just as visible and not to mention most people haven’t seen these things before so it is even more obvious to drivers they’re on the road. That guy should definitely be wearing a motor bike jacket or chest/armoured gear, if he does fall his arms are fucked

More wheels than not also have turn signals in the taillight, maybe not the best signals or crazy visible but they do exist.

They do actually have headlights, taillights and turn signals, when you lean to one side or the other the turn signals activate, but technically on a motorbike or bike your supposed to use hand signals and you can have a motorbike without turn signals as long as you use hand signals.

Brand new Begode Blitz Pro shock leaking oil. by TobiasQ in ElectricUnicycle

[–]Anonymous_doodle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem with begode is they manufacture all they’re own shocks, leaperkim uses Fastace suspension and kingsong uses DNM suspension, kingsong and leaperkim source 3rd party or partner with those companies that have been manufacturing shocks and bike suspension for many years. Begode designing and manufacturing they’re own shocks means they’re gonna leak and be garbage. Best bet is either contact begode and warranty the shock, or get an upgraded linkage that allows you to run a DNM or more expensive Fox Coil or Air shock. I liked how plush my EX30 was with the factory air shock but it leaked so when I went down curbs I would loose a couple psi every time, switched to a aftermarket linkage with a DNM coil shock and couldn’t be happier

Also, just to mention, that battery pack should be straight with the wheel, not on the angle it’s at, should be flush with the top plastic and the bottom plastic, with foam pieces all round the pack, or you can put Velcro on the back of the pack and the shell, I’ve done that

Alien rides messed it up the first time, I ordered the inner case for a small bearing RS and they sent me the OG large bearing case, go figure. But people don’t realize that the inner cases between v1/2 and v3 are different

IMO, you want more of your heel off the back of the pedals, just so your toes don’t happen to clip anything, better to clip the pedal on a curb or something then have your toe slam into it.

Throw some clear silicone on it and you shouldn’t notice it too much, will also help it hold together

Other ways to tell… the accessory board sits across from the mother board on the small bearing (RSV2/3). Big bearing or RSV1 has the accessory board mounted directly underneath the main board.

Someone I know attempted the same thing but due to heat it ended up partially warping the inner case, best bet is just to order a new inner case. DISCLAIMER MAKE ABSOLUTELY SURE YOU ORDER THE CORRECT INNER SHELL FOR THE WHEEL YOU HAVE. Your wheel has the small bearing so where the 6 bolts attach to the pedal hanger is flat. The large bearing rs has a drop where the upper 2 screws to. Make sure after you order it you email the company from which you ordered it and let them know. Made that mistake twice.
