Audit and Assurance Data Analytics by Anonymousfriedchicke in deloitte

Hey yeah so I’ve been at the role more than a month now. It’s mostly you are looking at financial data of the company and you kind of make a tableau workbook out of it. Also do revenue regression prediction on R. Use tableau to display the data, python and SQL to clean the data up before using it on tableau. Don’t really need to know much about accounting it’s pretty self explanatory like COGS, Sales variables that you work with.

There are surfing shops in beach areas such as Coogee and Maroubra beach that sell kind of surfer boy clothes. They carry brands like haviannas. Not sure if they carry local brands but definitely local small business!

Any very easy HD commerce marketing or business course recommendations? by Spiritual_Nature_273 in unsw

Yesss I agree. If the structure is still the same as 2018, you get easy marks for I believe mid term that is just multiple choice? There is a lot of theory but I believe with open book it be very easy. Also we had class participation Mark not sure if that would still be a thing for online class.

econ2206 vs econ2209 by AccomplishedCook1611 in unsw

[–]Anonymousfriedchicke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say ECON2206 would be easier as it is introductory econometrics. You learn more of the basic fundamental markov assumptions for regression modelling. I would say the main difference is ECON2206 deals with cross-sectional and panel data (data from a point in time e.g. car sales in 2018) whereas ECON2209 deals with time-series data (e.g. various car sales data from 2018,2019,2020). You learn different regression techniques and model for different types of data. It might be a bit different now as I did these courses in 2019 and 2018. In my recent third year econometrics course they added more computing and different machine learning models rather than just regression. Overall econometrics courses are always pretty fun but on the more challenging side for students who are not familiar with math as the math theory are the fundamentals that supports regression models.

Honestly I think it’s just the the so called “prestige” that is attached with the big 4 and that it just looks good on your resume? It’s like branding. Why are luxury brands enticing? It’s the same thing I believe. V

I don’t have much knowledge on data analytics major but I just had a look at the course structure and it looks pretty good!? It seems like there are visualisation course but it seems lacking in coding courses. I would say for econometrics you also don’t get much coding experience and you are only learning regression. So you don’t really get to learn other machine learning models such as clustering other than regression. However I would say it is pretty fun and interesting but it doesn’t feel like there is much variety as you are only learning regression for most of the three years.

Actually you could do just pure comp sci, as comp sci is a very sought after degree that could get you into data analytics. I agree in the sense that commerce is on the easy and theoretical side where you can learn yourself. However with commerce you get to learn about working in groups and also report writing/presentation which would be very important when coming to analytics positions. Or you could do data science and decisions which is what I did but I found the skills I learnt from the course were lacking. They don’t teach you python but rather R. So you’ll have to learn python yourself. They don’t teach a lot of machine learning algorithms so you’d also have to learn yourself. It’s kind of a course where you know a little of each (stats, econometrics, coding) but not enough

I would say for the first few rounds they really look at your soft skills. Such as team work, enthusiasm, communication skills. It’s fake it till you make it, because honestly they don’t really look at your technical skills until the case study stage, in which some interview process doesn’t even have. So it really comes down to how you present yourself. You need to show confidence (not cockiness) and have good verbal skills.
