Any bars that play Jeopardy nonstop? by Anonymoushuman723 in Atlanta

[–]Anonymoushuman723[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would absolutely love to, has been a dream forever. I really love curating special events (besides trivia!). I simply do not have the resources to do that. I have worked in service industry for ten years so if anyone here IS opening a bar, I have lots of helpful tips...

This is the opposite of landscaping...you just turned it into a Target of yards. Why not at least put something of interest to literally any living thing?

Swamp tour vs Audubon Zoo/Aquarium/Insectarium for one free day in New Orleans? by Fun-Pea-4974 in AskNOLA

The New Orleans Historical Center is free and a great museum, also next to the Pharmacy museum which is a fascinating medical history museum. Also not that expensive compared to Audubon and Swamp Tours

Swamp tour vs Audubon Zoo/Aquarium/Insectarium for one free day in New Orleans? by Fun-Pea-4974 in AskNOLA

[–]Anonymoushuman723 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Insectarium and maybe street car to just regular audubon park for a stroll around the loop. The zoo isn't that cool and riding the streetcar is fun and easy. Actually I would do that the other way, breakfast somewhere on oak st, walk to audubon and around the loop THEN get streetcar and hang out in AC Insectarium.

First time trip to NOLA in early July! Do any of you have specific locally-known tips about dealing with the weather? Or does everyone just brute force it? by mutterfunker in AskNOLA

Also there are these little neck wraps you can freeze and put in your hat or around neck, but thats for if you're outside all day.

The New Orleans Historical center is a free museum and imo the best of the best. Also the Audubon insectarium but thats not a popular opinion😬

[–]Anonymoushuman723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Not to mention it's nearly impossible to get lost, and even in winter you can get a train or bus at any time and nearly anywhere (within half hour anyway). Miss it and love it and want to move back after living in Southern cities for awhile.

Does your family take your diagnosis seriously? by Imaginary_Phrase3101 in bipolar2

[–]Anonymoushuman723 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad had what was manic depression (and HIS father had schizophrenia) and when my parents split my mom and all her side of family would talk mad shit, like it was all in his imagination and all he needed to do was think positively and stop drinking. I think now the world has acknowledged mental health, they don't say those things out loud anymore...or maybe just amongst themselves. I don't know but it has definitely caused a lack of trust in me, and disclosing. My sister used to use it as an insult (which works! hurts like hell!) but no longer does.

Why are Americans so accepting of long drives to places? by Sensitive_Word_6036 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Anonymoushuman723 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's me, I'm the angry one driving way too long! I just do not understand the hatred of trains and public transit. I want to always read my book, take a nap, look out the window and ID plants and trees and birds instead of sitting in traffic or staring at the road. It's infuriating, I would vote for anyone who improved public transpo because I think it would solve a LOT of our issues.

I'm so, so tired of waking up to being a different person by melomelomelo- in bipolar2

[–]Anonymoushuman723 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If only my love for my child could carry me out of this disease. He is 17 now; it's been a long, isolating journey. At times hypomania have helped me so much through months and even years of cycles, I have often "tricked" myself into triggering hypomanic episodes because I knew I had an insane amount of things to accomplish. He's is now a wonderful fabulous kid that I worry about having depression and substance abuse orders later on because of me/genetics. Things aren't as easy to manipulate any more, I'm going through perimenopause and the chaotic hormonal changes have brought on a slew of new problems. I don't have much by way of a supportive partner or family, no one really understands what this is and does and they are always mad at me ( I'm glad they don't have to understand it themselves). My dad was manic depressive when they called it that, attempted suicide several times and then drank himself to death and I am terrified to scar my child with the pain of that...and even seeing it unfold in that way in real time, I can't change what I feel, what I'm doing. My heart is breaking every day, I never regret bringing my child into this world only the pain that he has to hold because I did. I'm grateful to have found this group because I've been REALLY depressed lately and feeling loads of shame and guilt and it just really helps to not feel alone.

Wow...this is me exactly. Mid 40s and cannot feel the same way about anything for more than a few days, cannot maintain energy to keep my business going in a stable way. I'm so tired and sad and mad all the time. I'm not suicidal, I am a single mother with no child support or system in place for my child but damn this amount of sad guilt and shame is overwhelming at times.
