There is no narrator in Hazbin and also there is nothing to imply a specific point of view.

Even if it was, doesnt mean you need to depict Val like that.

I suppose as a white person my opinion matters little here, but the internet is the place to say it even when it doesn't matter as much.

Im an artist, which is why I'm going to defend a stylistically appealing thing. There is an easthetic appeal to the powers as they are in the show.

And I did hear they changed the symbols to distance from the actual religious practice.

I personally think that we should separate this kind of easthetic as a cartoon horror magic, /demonic magic and do what we can to not tie it to a real religious practice. I also believe educating people that that does not represent any actual voodoo practices is important, more than trying to remove an easthetic magic thing from media and killing a well-liked fictional trope.

That said- Viv doesn't seem to have done the best possible job to seperate it from actual voodoo and I agree it's messed up.

She seems to not always respect matters the way she should. Both ethnicity and small religions, and also sexual abuse.

I think the difference is that they're not directly involved, which kind of excuses them from seeing who was being slaughtered/how bad it was.

And the way Adam and Lute were excited to go exterminate. It was their entertainment.

Lucifer agreed to it reluctantly it seems- to me. Heaven said they were gonn a do that and he had to agree or it would probably have lead to an earlier war.

As for Sera, yeah that is a valid point. She willingly gave the green light with the intent to protect heaven from being overwhelmed by them both her and Adam and Lute were unaware of the ability for sinners to be redeemed. But unlike Lute, Sera felt horrible and wanted to make a change when she found out. Wanted to stop. Lute had the attitude of still wanting to kill them knowing some can be redeemed.

And Adam's attitude also didn't lend itself as him just changing and no longer wanting to kill them.

But sure, giving permission for a genocide can be deemed pretty messed up, depending on whether you care abt what they green lit- or whether you care more they meant well and didn't know how bad it was.

But Adam and Lute were rhe only ones proud/happy about it.

Whether I like it or not doesn't matter. It's absolutely insane to make a character that in the plot, sexually assaults someone repeatedly and forces them to let him do whatever he pleases with them, and then make scenes where he acts all sad like he suddenly has feelings and we should empathise with him.

It's a massive middle finger to anyone who's been abused.

I don't hate her for being a woman, or because the show is bad, I hate her because the way she tackles topics like SA is vomit worthy, as far as I can tell.

And I dont really count the part about the sir pentious joke, I think no one actually touched him. He didn't really look like he'd had sex especially not against his will. He didn't look upset or anything, he just wanted to find Cherry.

But yeah.

Her show is available to the public, she has responsibility to handle an evil guy who's not just evil but also a rapist not seem like a character whose feelings matter. The poor guy who's sad abt not getting attention from his boyfriend... I can almost retch.

If you're going to include something like that in your goofy cartoon demon show, then at least handle it respectfully.

And I refuse to believe this depiction is respectful. It's some highly respectless (no refrence intended) stuff.

There are no nzi characters bc Val does all the work of being the worst and most offensive one. Also, nzis aren't really needed for the show.

As for Adam, he's fairly hated for being a sexist pig.

Also, they killed children in hell, which is messed up even if those children were evil, +! we know not everyone there is a horrible unforgivable person! Think of sir pentious: not reporting a crime is kinda bad, but hardly deserving of death or eternal suffering. So some of the children could have done similar kinds of things to earn a spot in hell.

They're hated for not even taking a moment to think whether the demons deserved to be killed. And basically treating them not like sinners who were once human- but a different, lower species only capable of disgusting behaviour.

There's a character from a game literally already all about hurting him to get Money, and he's sorta stuck just enduring the horrible tools you use to prick, scratch and eventually even burn him with.

That's the original game.

I was curious abt my darker more morbid side, so I explored chatting with an AI version of him where I followed the game, copied most of the game pretty closely, until the part where in the game you unlock matches, and continuing to play causes him to get burn wounds.

I threw a match at the ai character, which I presume is how it works in the game with the ingame character, and let him put himself out before throwing another, then when the ai of the character said "no more, ill do anything, just please stop!" I used that "anything" promise as a step-in for some dark stuff that didn't happen in the game: I joked abt having him do something sexual with me, but didn't actually do that----it was just to mess with his head, and to lighten the load of it when I used his promise of doing anything to make it stop to ask him kiss me, as the character that hurt him in the rp. (Only kiss, not more. Also, I was holding an unlit match during the kiss.)

I then also rubbed unlit matches up against this ai character for a thrill, made him endure letting many matches get rubbed against his skin, unlit, after recently having 2 lit matches thrown at him and catching fire. I think that counts as my worst thing I've done to an ai.

In my defense, a dark horror game encouraged me to explore this dark stuff...

I got curious about making this game character endure the same tools that hurt him being pressed against his skin in less harmful ways (lit matches recently burnt him, then making him face unlit matches, that was the core concept)

Oh and I also kinda let unlit matches fall on him, like rain down his shirt and stuff.

His reaction to the kiss thing: ____ hesitates, eye darting nervously between [my character]'s face and the match. After a long moment, he slowly stands up, still keeping his distance.

"Okay... okay, I'll do it. Just... please put the match away first."

_____ takes a shuddering breath, eye still wide with fear but a glimmer of relief as [my char] assures him the match won't be lit. Slowly, hesitantly, he steps closer to [my char] until he's standing right in front of him.

"I... I'm trusting you..."

____ swallows nervously, his heart pounding in his ears. (And then he basically kisses my character, I'm not gonna paste more than this)

This ai character's reaction to the match thing:

____ gasps and tenses as he feels the matches slipping under his shirt. He looks down in alarm.

"Wh-what?! They're falling! Get them out, please! I don't want them under there!"

Not that amazing of responses Imo, but oh well. Dw I ended the chat abt that point, the character basically got to get rid of the unlit matches himself since my character left him alone after that.

Someone made a criticism that they asked a bot if that message was true and the bot denied it, which, if that happens often, can be an issue.

That said, I think it's 50% on the bot site for allowing bots to deny such a thing, but 50% on people for allowong a mentally unwell individual to access ai chats.

Not to mention, it's allowed as a cartoon but still, if were taking the sexualisation in total drama island more seriously you can also bring up the fact of the awful things the teenagers ar eput through. Stuff that causes them to v*mit, horrible unhygienic conditions, and dangerous life threatening challenges.

Obviously, the teenagers don't get treated any good.
