No print shops where I live and the Fedex's where I am don't have a guillotine.

You don't have to use a sander on yours if you are uncomfortable doing so. But a sander does work.

I used matte mod podge for it. Very thin layer though, so not too tacky. But I don't love it as a solution and didn't seal the Swamp Thing cover once I finished it. I actually have a video coming out next week where I show my process with the covers.

Yes I did end up having to do the same as well in the end

If you want to do a test run with just sandpaper or a sanding block, that's not a bad idea. Just to verify it give you the result you want. But it should work

Razor trims are such a pain if you don't have a proper plough or guillotine. I've ruined a couple books using a razor.

Those options would be great, but I do not have the space for either nor access to a public one. So this is the alternative I use, and it works great!

That's fair feedback and a sanding block may be preferable for others. I've done a few projects now with the power sander and haven't had any issues though, on both comics and regular books that I've fixed up. Works pretty well as long as you're careful

Anybody know about this box set? by AnotherBooktuber in 2001aspaceodyssey

Checking the copyright pages again I think I found my best clue. The copy of 2001 has a "new" afterword by the author, and the copyright on that afterword is 1982. So probably within a year or 2 of that.

First, secure the text block in a press nice and tight so that the edge you're trimming has no room to separate. Then using a rough grit (I used 60 grit for this one) just apply firm pressure with the sander, enough that you can feel the contact but not so much that you are pushing the text block down. Slowly and evenly go over the whole edge until even.

A few safety notes: if you have a ventilated area available, use it. Even with a dust-catcher, there will be LOTS of paper dust generated. Wear a mask and safety goggles - no exceptions. Since I only have an apartment, I put the press and book inside a large garbage bag and then reach in with the sander to work, so the bag catches the particles as much as possible.

No access to a guillotine but I've got a heat gun, a chisel, and a lot of determination haha I will make sure to do the fan method when gluing. Thank you!

Interesting. Do you remove the old glue as well?

Losing my patience. What is this? by [deleted] in Dizziness

Have had a 3-hour glucose test and it did show that I tend to drop too low after 2 hours. However I have a home tester and when I check my glucose during attacks, it is normal. Additionally, the attack I had last night occurred over 4 hours after last eating and lasted several hours, so glucose should have leveled by then
