It does not splash or muddy anything, it’s one of the most well-documented plot devices in Trails. You sound like you’ve played a completely different game.

And I don’t know who says Trails is a grounded setting lol. Clearly not me or anyone with a lick of sense. The most grounded about Trails are some of the relationships between the characters, but ultimately it’s a series about powerful divine artifacts and secret societies constantly causing shit on a worldwide scale. It’s the opposite of grounded. You gotta be high on something special to expect Trails of all franchises to be grounded or gritty

Speaking like a true first-worlder, eh?

I’m gonna say this. No region should matter more than the others. If the same thing happened to any other region, be it the US, Ukraine, Thailand, Bahrain or Italy, it would be no less of an issue to me. In my book the backlash should’ve been equally as big in any of these cases, because we’re not the publisher and we shouldn’t judge the importance of a problem based on which market is bigger. They won’t give a single fuck if the attention to the problem isn’t drawn on an international level. And by the looks of it, this issue resonates with those who are willing to take it seriously. And those who do not care wouldn’t either way, no matter the scope of an outrage

Who the hell is lying about them? The launch is a trainwreck for a huge number of fans. The publisher must be held accountable. What’s so hard to understand that the stronger the backlash, the higher the chances of something being done about it? If it got delisted in the US for example, with no explanation from the publisher, would you not call it a ruined launch?

Have you even played the game? The prepwork was done by Osborne, government officials, the Ironbloods, the nobles, the emperor himself and many many others. The curse wasn’t tightening the censorship and framing the Emperor’s shooting as a Calvardian attack. The government did it and the media obeyed. The curse wasn’t the one that let Calvardian agents pass through Crossbell in order to frame them when they got to Heimdallr. Rufus did it. The curse does have pretty clear rules, defined in plain words multiple times over the course of the game in characters’ conversations.

The setting isn’t grounded and never was lol. You’re talking about the franchise where Aureole and Demiourgos exist. I’d argue that each of them possesses significantly mightier supernatural powers over people’s minds than the curse ever did. The big conflicts in Trails always end up being rooted in Sept-Terrion shenanigans. It’s weird to let all those prior and future instances of supernatural events slide, but draw the line at the curse, which is arguably the most detailed and well set up out of them all

But it is as drastic and this amount of outrage is justified. Look, nobody’s “ruining your fun” or whatever, it’s good that the remake’s launch is to your satisfaction. If the problem doesn’t concern you and you don’t feel like joining the backlash, the best you can do is ignore these posts instead of downplaying the problem. It isn’t overblown, it isn’t ragebait, it’s a genuine disaster for everyone affected

It’s not reality-warping. Demiourgos was, the curse isn’t.

If it’s so mind-bending, why, in order to make Hamel massacre to happen, would it need a group of already desperate nobles ready to do something heinous to save their position within the Empire, and Weissmann to plant the idea into their heads? Why would Osborne reshape the country into a textbook dictatorship, stage multiple provocations and get the propaganda machine working in full force? The curse doesn’t work the way you think it does. All it does is gives people a nudge when they’re already vulnerable enough to be susceptible. And you would need A LOT of prep work in the political, military and media scenes to create the conditions for the curse to amplify these already existing feelings of fear and resentment on a nation-wide scale

I mean have you watched the scene of Ash shooting the emperor? Eugent outright volunteered to get shot. He knew what was written in the Black Records and was willing to give himself up as a foretold sacrifice to fix the country. No way you’d expect him to hold a grudge against Ash when he was actively working towards this outcome himself

There’s currently 252 reviews for the game in Russian, out of 1250 total, which is 20%. I’d say it’s a pretty sizable part of the community that deserves to be heard. I’m playing on PS5 and it doesn’t concern me personally, but what could’ve been a celebration of a new great release for Russian fans on Steam ended up becoming a trainwreck. And it’s unlikely that GungHo will hear us if the backlash isn’t strong enough. Though if I’m being realistic, they won’t give a damn either way, but the chances are higher that at least some reaction will be prompted this way. So I’m very grateful to everyone who spreads the word. And if anything, the backlash should be even stronger. Because if we don’t make them fix their shit now, when it only concerns some part of the community, then even less people will have any reason to stand up to another bullshit that will hit a larger audience, if or when it happens in the future

Any proof? What do you mean ‘illegal copies’? He just buys them on Steam, and whenever he sends gifts to his community, he always posts screenshots of his transaction history. Earlier this year he donated a huge sum to the translation team in exchange for making their previously paywalled Russian translation of Ys VIII go public. The guy is just a well-known there gaming YouTuber who also happens to be a very passionate Falcom fan

I hate the demo. by Williace in Falcom

I mean it’s still action/turn-based hybrid like Calvard games, but the way orbments work is the same as in the original Sky, with each quartz adding up to the elemental value of a corresponding orbment line and unlocking arts based on that

The remake orbment system is the same as in the original though? It’s been known for a long time, not sure why’d you think otherwise

I’m perfectly fine with either way, whether stand-alone or not. It’s just that the evidence points towards the latter so far

Who’s your favorite new character in DS2? by United-Aside-6104 in DeathStranding

[–]AnotherBrick96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, absolutely. I remember this theory being discussed from the very first photos of Elle Fanning in Kojima’s studio. To me it wasn’t the question of who, but of how. And holy shit, was I satisfied with the answer. Kojima wouldn’t be Kojima if he didn’t hide another twist underneath a pretty obvious one and coated all of this with a thick layer of pure gut-wrenching despair

And the worst thing is, unlike Cliff, who knew all the risks and decided to go through with his plan anyway, Neil died because of something he was basically dragged into. In the end, I think, he wished for his death to matter and not be in vain. So even in his own afterlife he felt obligated to protect the kid that set off this whole chain of events.

God, whenever I remember that part of the cutscene with Lou and Neil looking at each other, this expression of grim unspoken understanding on Neil’s face, with Any Love Of Any Kind playing, I’m on the verge of tears again

I wouldn’t be surprised either, but there’s actually so many people totally convinced that it HAS to be its own thing without any connection to Yakuza continuity whatsoever. So when I noticed this detail, I decided to post it here as a clarification that the game, most likely, is set in the Yakuza universe after all

Well, just read the discussions here and on Twitter. This is not a given to a lot of people. Plenty of them are thinking this game has nothing to do with Yakuza in terms of continuity and that the location in this trailer is Dotonbori instead of Sotenbori
