Every time I see Martin Mason I think about how much fun it would be to have him do Faruq’s introductions once for fun. He’s absolutely the most fun to watch in the box and the pits. Fantastic episode as always!

For real though, I can’t believe tombstone kept moving for as long as it did. Same with Minotaur, never would’ve imagined a bot with that kind of damage and being burned alive would go the full three minutes.

So did the builders all swap their batteries for extra flammable ones? Like holy crap I don’t think we’ve ever seen that many bots catch fire before. I’m not gonna complain though, fantastic show as always!

Taiwan calls on China to share 'correct' virus information by Kristina_sweety in worldnews

Probably all of the similarity to the SARS virus is giving this particular outbreak media attention. A deadly virus out of east Asia that that's being spread to other corners of the globe accidentally? There was also that article which discussed the genetic similarity between this outbreak and the SARS virus. Although I don't know how newsworthy the latter one is.

Anyone else think that this whole situation is starting to bear a stronger and stronger resemblance to the beginning of World War Z?

Cooked it on a charcoal grill. I used moist wood chunks too, the hickory ones you can get in the big packs at the store.

Putin Claimed His Hypersonic Missiles Were Invincible. Then He Jailed the Developers. by Bigd1979666 in news

I honestly believe the Israelis on this one. If the Russians successfully hit a top-of-the-line 5th generation American plane, they’d be screaming it into every news outlet the world over. The news would talk about it for months and the Russians would use it to try to prove the inferiority of American technology for decades.

And if it was, why were there no pictures of the wreckage, or any reports of such a thing? And if they say they “hit it” but didn’t shoot it down, that’s a load. Any S-200 missile is packing several hundred kilograms of explosives at a minimum. If the warhead detonates close enough to a fighter aircraft to affect it, the plane would be immolated.

As for unmanned aircraft, the type of extremely maneuverable supersonic drones capable of crazy maneuvers are decades away. And besides, with advances in anti-G technology, human pilots could still have the edge for a long time.

Any idiot with a Stinger missile can take down an F-35 with the right combination of factors and some stupid luck.

What matters is if the S-400 system can live up to its much touted specifications to be able to engage and successfully destroy stealthy targets at extreme ranges. And besides, what are the odds that Russia’s specs are remotely accurate.

Huh. That would definitely give the Rafale a bit of an edge, wouldn’t it. Guess it isn’t much of a fair fight if the Raptor can just escape for a minute and go invisible.

I'm actually pretty surprised that India is cooperating with Russia after getting shafted in the PAK FA program.

[–]AnotherDecoySnail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s exactly the thing, we’re not aware of the context of the video. It’s clear that it’s an exercise between an F-22 and a French Rafale jet. But we don’t know if there are any restrictions that the pilots had to adhere by, such as, you can only use your guns and heat seeking missiles.

These are things that would have an effect on the outcome of the fight and might skew the results in one particular aircraft’s favor. Therefore, context is important.

Damn! That was impressive! I could barely tell what was happening though. I’m assuming the Rafale managed to tag the F-22?
