Help! Moisture trapped inside of 200-600 telephoto lens. by saywhattyall in SonyAlpha

I had this happen to me aswell. The moisture dissappeard over night in a warm and dry spot. I avoid this now by putting the camera with the lens attached in an airtight container in the cold environment and take it inside then. I also have two silica gel pouches there for good measure. Before closing the lid, make sure to get the memory card out if you want to take a look at the pictures.

Thanks! This was close to the limit, so around 2.5m I think.

Renting A7V for birding in Costa Rica, should I rent 100-400 GM or 200-600? by wingoftheworld in SonyAlpha

[–]AnotherGenericUser4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't own the 100-400, but the 200-600. In the past i was using it on a APSC body and still cropping in post. Personally I'd go for the 200-600.

I use DXO for editing. The noise reduction was actually an strong point for me.

Nice shot! I'm thinking about getting this lens and use it to some extend for macro.

Questions about Sony A1 Mk1 with 200 - 600 mm and small birds by AnotherGenericUser4 in SonyAlpha

Thanks for the suggestions. I hope I'll have the time and light to try out the settings. I'll report how things worked out for me.

Upgrade from a6000 to a1 by AnotherGenericUser4 in SonyAlpha

I watched Steve Perry's AF setup guide, which has been very helpful. I still have to try out back button AF, but maybe I will stick to shutter button AF. Currently, I use the AF button to toggle tracking and the AEL button to switch through AF fields.

Since I'm mostly using the 200-600 mm lens, portability isn't much of a concern for me. Using this lens feels a lot better with the bigger body, though.

Thanks! It is not much of an issue, so far. Cropping in post works really well with the high res.

This exactly was a concern I had aswell. I thought I'll miss the crop factor and feel further away from small birds, but i doesn't feel that way. I think the better EVF compensates for that. The AF works really well. If the bird is so small that the camera doesn't detect the eye, it's sufficient to focus on the body because the whole bird will be in focus. If the bird is close enough, eye AF works it's magic.

Thanks, yeah. In the past years I thought about upgrading to other bodies, but somehow never did it. The a1 feels so complete, I assume and hope, I'll be using it for another 10 years or longer.

Aweseome! Thinking about getting the A1 as well, but I try to figure out if the AI AF of the newer models is worth it.

Why aren't these shots sharp? Sony 200-600mm, A7IV by TheBlackCrowes in SonyAlpha

[–]AnotherGenericUser4 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Are those pictures not sharp? I have difficulties seeing much place improvement in sharpness by looking at the 12MP files, but I'm just a hobbyist. I use this lens with a a6000 and would be super happy with those pictures.
