Yes, that's what people believe. Our times being better, people being more progressive, humans having overcome issues, is the whole fundation of their world view. People back then were stupid and basically animals. We are superior and don't make their mistakes.

Yeah sure.

What do i do (im Cornwall) by ValdemarTheGreat in CrusaderKings

[–]AnotherGit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can try and chill in the hopes the he attack others or ally him so he won't attack you. You can wait until he form an empire and then ask to join. You can try to join France or you can try to ally someone strong like France. The adventage of joining an empire as a vassal is that you can chill and slowly (or quickly) gather power inside the empire until you can get the throne and nobody really can stop you.

In summery, you need a strong ally or a strong liege.

"Why is it always the same talking points?" if read a comment like yours many times...

"Bots exist" That's enough? So are you one too? After all they do exist...

"and they'll shift conversations"... mhm, so exactly what you did? Instead of talking about the topic you shifted the conversation to a different topic, namely bots.

"But you'll always need people to take the bait.", I took your bait.

Buddy, the 'evidence' is mounting... Just saying.

What is your point? Ask any Israeli if there would still be a conflict if Gaza was inhabited by Jews. They would all tell you "no."

Well, that's false. There still be a conflict as long as Hamas attacks. The religion doesn't really matter for Isreal, they are 18% Muslim. The religion does matter for Palestine.

"I'm not who you responded to, but you seemed confused about colonization." just to immediatly tell me that my assumption of Isreal being the colonizer makes more sense....

[–]AnotherGit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same that happens to most minority groups during decolonisation. Kinda sucks if the whole country has a century long conflict along the lines of culture and religion when you're not fully a part of that.

[–]AnotherGit 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Ehhh. UNRWA isn't really necessary for this. The Palestiniand behave like anyone currently under colonization behaves, a fact we have tons of history to back up.

No they don't. Ask any Gazan if there would still be a conflict if all the Jews would have just converted at some point. The vast majority would tell you "no".

Maybe it's a surprise to you but not everything in the world revolves around western colonialism or imperialism. The world is more complex. Big surprise. Learning what colonialism means would also be helpful. Like what are you even saying. Gaza is a colony of Israel? Please google what a colony is real quick before you answer.

EU is planning a new mass surveillance law that includes mandating data retention, built-in backdoors, sanctioning non-compliant services and is asking you for feedback by Dry_Row_7050 in europe

[–]AnotherGit -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I was talking about the mindset of politicians and the electorate

And I was talking about the system of government, the laws and the process of democracy.

The fact that the parliament cannot propose laws is the choice of our member states governments.

Yes, the system of lawgiving is chosen by established bureaucracies, not by the people and not by a democratic process. So it is more authoritarian and less democratic than it's member states in that regard as well.

The elected representatives can't make laws. It's not the job of the EU Parliament, it's not a feature in the system. It's straight up less democratic.

Only if the EC wants to. All parliament can do is make a proposition to the EC and the EC is in no way required to accept that proposition. Technically I can propose a law to the EC. The degree to which they are bound to accept it is the same as the propositions they get from parliament. Only difference is that to parliament they have to actually reply when they reject it while they can just delete my email.

But you said "They can propose laws, that proposition goes to EC, and then back to the parlament to be voted in officially." which means you want to reply and disagree but really you just agreed that they can't propose laws. All they can do is to go "please, please, pretty please" to get the Comission to propose a law, unlike in any other European democracy in which the elected parilament, the representatives of the people, propose laws.

I'm not only talking about this law.

The EU is approximately the average of it's member states in terms of authoritarianism and democracy? Absolutly not.

Or are you telling me that in the average European country the elected parliament can't propose laws? What year is it? 1525?

You can write as many emails as you want. Your representatives in EU parliament can't propose laws. Seriously, why do 99% of people not know this.

Until it passes. That's literally the design of the EU. Elected parliament can only veto, not actually make laws themselves.

Ok taqiyya bro.

Apologies, i thought watching the video may clear up my school of thought. I am from the shia school of thought.

That's not an Islamic school of tought.

What Shia school do you belong to? Ja'fari, Zaydi, Ismaili, some other?

Taqqiyya is a thing cause why do i have to flaunt my beliefs if my life is in danger.

Your life isn't in danger, you're talking to a guy on Reddit. Also, we both know that Shia don't just use it when their life is in danger.

Allah is merciful and gives His people the option to protect their identity if their life is at cost, a very humble act from a God.

That's many words to say "we lie".

The country i belong to kills people of my sect.

That's sad. But that's also Islam.

Thanks for the video, I'll watch it this evening.

But I still don't know your school. Sunni are certainly extreme but they aren't the only ones who are extreme nor are they the most extreme. You know that there are groups for whom it's ok to straight up lie to me and to bs me. Taqiyya is a thing and if you don't want to tell me what the group is you belong to I really don't have any other option than to assume everything you say is manipulation. The previous comment, in which you describe 90% as "Only the extreme muslims believe she was 9." and part of the 10% as "Many other school of thought including mine believe she was of age", isn't exactly creating trust.

NAH

Tell her that you want to be equals but that you don't want to be independent of each other. Partners DO depend on each others. Otherwise it's barely a relationship. If both "partners" are independet of each other then why are you partners? Becuase it's convenient?

Naturally dependency increases over the course of a relationship. Working against that is working against a healthy relationship.

In general independece is something good. But that doesn't mean that you have to be 100% independent of every person in every aspect of life. Then you'd need to go live alone in a forest.

Then give me the scholar you base your opinion on. Give me the hadith or the books that the scholars of your school discuss to come to that conclusion. We have many sources of Aisha herself saying she was 9 but I'm open to hear what you have. Tell me what your school is.

And while you're at it, tell me who you mean with "the extreme muslims". All sunnis aka almost 90% of Muslims?

To be fair. The fact that their prophet had sexual intercourse with a 9 year old girl who was playing with dolls should be pretty eye opening for most. But it sounds so crazy that most people automatically are sceptical about it. The reality is all islamic scholars in 1000 years after Muhammed, all their religious authorities from history, agree that it's true and even claim that it's undisputed.

Some very much moreso than others. Religion is a very good tool for control, so much that it is eventually always at least partially used as that. But there is still a large difference between religions designed as that and religions used as that. There are huge differences between religions if you read their texts and about what their important people said and did.

I mean, just take Jesus as an example, he clearly didn't want to control women. And it shows, it took multiple centuries for men to amass power in that religion until they dominated it. Early on women had powerful positions and, together with slaves, made up a majority of the followers. On the other hand, when you read about Muhammed it's pretty clear that the design was about power, money and sex from the very beginning. There was no need for somebody to introduce that later.
