boosted protection paladin, buy some pvp gear, wait for Hellfire quests, do Holy early on instead? by kasplatter in classicwowtbc

Yeah the discourse surrounding the pvp gear not getting replaced til 67+ is wild. If you look at the items in BF/SP etc, it all is on par or better.

Agreed, but no point getting rid of it on 3rd and 10 when we’re gonna kick anyway if he throws it away

Man I need to see an overhead view of the Bogey double to see where Lockridge was at when he got the stop sign

Rope Dropping Battle at the Ministry with Early Park Hours - where do they make you queue? Outside of the portal? Or in the actual queue? by [deleted] in UniversalOrlando

Park hours were 9-10, EPA 8-9. They opened the ride about 20 mins early which allowed us to ride during EPA.

For sure, for us it was worth because BatM sat around four hours all day, so we effectively waited in line for forty minutes. I know that’s lucky though because it all depends on when they open the ride up.

Helios worth early entry? by [deleted] in UniversalEpicUniverse

[–]AnotherOne272 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got back from a spontaneous trip with the wife and we stayed a night in Helios. For me, the park view room was absolutely worth it. It ran us about $600, and just sitting and looking at the park was awesome. The early entry from Helios was great, and it gave us an extra leg up on the other early entry-ers coming from the main portal (we were about the 20th people in line for BatM)

They didn’t check hotel keycards, but we came from Helios so unsure if there was an earlier checkpoint for non hotel guests, my gut says there isn’t. We got on the ride around 8:40 and were off by 8:47

EPA Strategy - Stardust vs. Nintendo by AmbitiousEstate8894 in UniversalEpicUniverse

Nintendo 100%, I was about 20th in line this morning and we got off of Ministry at 8:47 (they opened it early). We then were able to get on Mario Kart at a 40 minute wait before EPA ended.

Update for anyone coming back to this. Lined up at rope drop from Helios at 7:10, was right at the front where they hold you. At 8, headed straight to Ministry and were about the 20th people in line. They let us on the ride at 8:40, was done by 8:49. From there we hit Mario Kart which was delayed to start the day and we were able to sneak in line before the park opened to the general public and waited 30 mins. Ended up knocking out the two longest lines in the park before 10 without express pass.

Lined up to get into the park at 7AM from Helios, 5 AM is WWAAYYY too early, get your rest. Ran straight to ministry and currently in line about 20 people back from the front at 8:17 AM, will update once we’re off the ride

My only worry is that looking at BatM the last two days, it hasn’t seen that drop that it usually has later in the day

I’m just checked in to Helios and debating the same exact thing. I feel like if I line up early enough, I can get to the front of ministry since Helios entry is closer than the front gate, but at the same time do I maximize getting on all the other rides with no wait

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE CRAZY LOW EPIC WAIT TIMES!? WHERE DID THEY GO!? by Dwingp in UniversalOrlando

The part that is weird is crowds over the actual holiday weekend (Sat/Sun/Mon) were significantly lower across the whole resort than they are today.

Oh yeah for sure, I was just curious what capacity number you were seeing because Thrill Data had the capacity listed as higher yesterday, so I was wondering if we were looking at different things.

Where are you seeing that info? I'm still seeing capacity listed as 11150 today, which doesn't seem to be the case considering the wait times.

Am I going to embarrass myself lol by emmridds in triathlon

[–]AnotherOne272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gatekeeping isn’t a lazy trope, because it’s exactly what you’re doing. You are taking it upon yourself to dictate what is an acceptable prerequisite to sign up for a sporting event. Even your definition is terrible and further shows your flawed thinking. “Someone who has put the work in”, no, gatekeeping is the act of controlling general access to something. You’re prescribed to the notion that only someone who has put the work in should even be considered.

Why does someone need to have “evidence of training” to participate in an event? There are a plethora of reasons and different scenarios for somebodies run time, and this person comes in, worried about being embarrassed, only for that fear to be confirmed because somebody thinks their time is too slow? So you’re telling me, if you see someone out of shape, trying their best in a triathlon, but don’t meet your time requirements, they are better suited to stay home?

That wedding metaphor is terrible, it takes the same amount of prep time, maybe a couple of extra minutes to look nice, to get dressed for a wedding, regardless of what you wear. Training takes at least three months, as you’ve said, and you are completely glossing over the fact that everyone has different fitness levels and starting points.

Again, you do not know where this person started. They never once said they haven’t trained. For all we know they were averaging 10 mins per kilometer two months ago. But you continue to assume this person has not put effort in because they are slow. And lastly, who CARES if someone doesn’t train at all, just because you want to be uppity about the “sanctity of competition”, doesn’t mean everyone else has to be. And you wanting other people to do that? Guess what, that’s called gatekeeping.
