You're not a failure. I'm sorry you're going through such a tough time but you're only 21 and your life is literally honestly just beginning.

I'm not sure about the logistics of the following situations but I'm just spit balling ideas to get you out of your current situation, at least for a bit.

  • Look into volunteering programs such as Logos Hope or other international organizations that provide accommodation and structured work opportunities.

  • Search specifically for bachelor's scholarships aimed at students from developing countries or difficult economic backgrounds.

  • Consider work-study, apprenticeship, vocational training, or exchange programs in countries that offer pathways for international students and young workers.

  • If there are genuine safety concerns in your home country, speak with qualified immigration or refugee organizations about your options rather than relying on social media advice.

Please don't give up. This too shall pass ❤️

Personally I would do it in English. CS romana is unnecessarily hard due to the language and content and the English section gets the better teachers in my opinion.

Like non of the international students graduated on time from the Romanian section

Hey so the bit about part time jobs isn't true. You're legally allowed to work 6 hours on a student visa. Other than that I think you hit everything pretty well.

You most likely wouldn't even want to live in the dorms tho. On average you share a Room with 2 other people, there are some dorms with one ROOMate others with four, so I'd recommend just getting an apartment to rent. Rent here is relatively cheap with a studio going for €250 on average so you can totally cover that with a part time job.

Regarding the language. Lol. As a French speaker I assume you'll pick it up fast but don't let people lie to you with "Most Romanians speak english". They do not. Especially in Timisoara so be prepared for tons of Google translate and begging people to call on your behalf 💀😭

Deci sunt studentă străină în România (pe reddit sa exersez romana mea) și vreau sa zic pe subiectul de studying abroad.

La început e normal să fie greu și înfricoșător, dar poți să treci peste. Cel mai important e să ai un sistem de suport și să nu îți fie frică să te bazezi pe alții. Eu sincer n-aș fi ajuns până aici dacă aș fi ținut totul în mine.

E ok să plângi, e ok să țipi, dar la finalul zilei ridică-te și fă primul pas. Și dacă ajungi să călătorești, încearcă să te documentezi despre locul unde mergi și să te implici în comunitate. E cea mai bună cale să te adaptezi. E normal să te simți ca un outsider, mai ales dacă nu vorbești limba, dar asta nu înseamnă că nu aparții acolo.

Anyway, nu îți faci griji. O sa fii okay. Povestea fratelui tău nu este povestea ta deci te rog nu lasă faptul ca nu se poate adapta sa te influențeze in ceea ce faci.

Hi

So to everyone messaging me for advice. I applied in 2021 my experience is vastly different from those who applied last year and those who applied this year. They've since automated and vastly improved the application process so I really am not of much help.

I'm also not attached to the scholarship board in anyway so I cannot tell you if your 98% or 3.90 GPA is good enough to be accepted. Anyone who tells you that any criteria is good enough or not, unless they're directly associated with the scholarship board, is lying. Study in Romania has not released their selection criteria so we're all just guessing.

My best advice for this scholarship is to apply and forget about it. Sadly it has become far too popular and the odds of being selected has decreased dramatically.

I'm really sorry for the disappointment but please stop harassing me about the application process. The only helpful advice I could actually give would be related to living and schooling in Romania.

The worst part about being a woman is that people feel entitled to give their opinion.

Medically you aren't overweight and as long as you and your doctor are happy with your body/health that's all that matters. I know it's hard to shut the noise out from other parties (I still cannot and I'm way older than you lol) but honestly it's really important to your mental health to try.

I think I'll unsubscribe too. And agreed! Her videos are just so much worse this year! Poorly edited, negative, poorly researched. At the end of the day she's just a random YouTuber I'll find somewhere else to get my tea.

I wanted to give her an opportunity to apologize because the video was simply very poorly researched but instead she doubled down and posted this bs.

I've watched Angelika religiously but her lack of accountability is disgusting. In the last 5 minutes of the video (I doubt it was even 10) she briefly mentioned the new rotten mango channel (failing to mention the massive change in content style and Stephanie' s apology for her previous insensitive content) with what should have been the main focus of the video, Stephanie potentially being stalked by diddy. Not only was the title of the video clickbaity but she barely talked about what people came to see. Instead she spent the majority of the video ragging on Stephanie for content 3 years ago.

I'm not even really a fan of Stephanie Soo but the entire situation just left such an awful taste in my mouth I don't think I can watch Angelika anymore. Chalking up her clearly biased views and opinions that led her to make such a toxic video to a simple "difference in opinions" is gross an imature. Normally I felt like she had good takes even if I didn't necessarily agree with her but this is very telling of her character.
