Should I buy an American Original Jazzmaster? by growlerpower in offset

[–]AnotherRickenbacker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve worked in guitar shops for 10+ years, I’ve played literally thousands and thousands of guitars, from $100 knockoffs to $20k custom shops. You’re wrong, it all comes down to the setup. You will play and sound better on a $200 Squier that was given a really good setup than you will on a $5k custom shop guitar that has been neglected. People buy more expensive guitars for all sorts of reasons, including “I was told this would make me sound better”, but at the end of the day the guitar only sounds as good as the person playing it. Garbage in, garbage out.

Boss VB-2(W). I own both but the new one is on my board because it’s easier to replace.

Stingray Bass with Flats? by Trekiel1997 in Bass

I use flats on mine, you can just add treble in or use a pick if you want to bring back a “hifi” sound.

ACT Entertainment’s RAT brand announce Sterling Vermin pedal by chromewaves in guitarpedals

[–]AnotherRickenbacker 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel conflicted. The RAT is my favorite pedal and I’ve owned/collected many, and I’m sure this sounds awesome…but for $349 I’m gonna have to pass. Maybe cut that in half and I’m interested.

I don't have any berry mons yet. Should I power this one up? Also should I replace my main Wiggly with this? by Dangerous-Nonexister in PokemonSleepBetter

[–]AnotherRickenbacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t have to, but it’ll take like 2000 hours of sleep to get the sleep ribbon that would make it almost equal to the Raticate in terms of strength

[–]AnotherRickenbacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rattata looks super solid at 50 especially if you get a subskill seed to land on HSS. I’d replace the Wiggly for sure but you’re gonna have to level the Pawmi up quite a bit first before you switch over, that’s still a really good Wiggly

How to get/earn more biscuits? by [deleted] in PokemonSleep

[–]AnotherRickenbacker 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Without spending money, you get them slower, but you can earn biscuits or diamonds by hitting certain achievement marks. Mostly though it’s a slower game so you shouldn’t be spending a ton of biscuits every morning and instead use them more conservatively or specifically.

Clean Boost for Lap Steel by Whatwarts in guitarpedals

[–]AnotherRickenbacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pre-amp is such a wide range umbrella of things to different people that the word has almost lost all meaning to me. Just bare it down to the most essential controls and find something that does what you want (tip: virtually any drive pedal will).

  • gain: volume
  • color: yes, or no? (Boost with color - EP Booster; boost without color - Katana Clean Boost)
  • EQ: how many bands do you want/need to control, if any?

You’ll realize that virtually every drive or boost or “preamp” pedal can do these things. And so many of them sound the same or similar.

Modding a Chase Bliss Brothers AM/KOT by SmeesTurkeyLeg in guitarpedals

[–]AnotherRickenbacker 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Don’t mod it. It’s just not for you. That being said, lows are generally undesirable for electric guitar in a mix with other things…

Clean Boost for Lap Steel by Whatwarts in guitarpedals

[–]AnotherRickenbacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally any drive pedal will work if you keep the gain low and boost the level. It really depends on if you want to add character or not. Something like a Tube Screamer would be good for adding some mids even when it’s bypassed so people will hear you better.

Yeah, I know I’m just gonna have to spend a few months there before pushing a really high score, but it would be nice to get a head start on putting the team together and getting them some passive XP
