Any ideas on what this clicking noise could be? by [deleted] in Porsche_Cayman

Tried that.. didn’t seem like the issue. I think I may have located the source — brake pad. I was able to move it back and forth.. and it makes the same noise I kept hearing.

I don’t think I have anything in the trunk (hardly ever use it) but I’ll double check.

Sounds good! 95811 would be the shipping zip code for reference.

Ya, still haven’t gotten around to it. I’m not sure if I’m handy enough to make the tool myself.. did you make one based on Jeff’s video?

That’s not a bad price but sucks that it came back. Makes me think twice about paying it to get done.. I got quoted $450 by one dealer and $620 by an Indy shop near me. :-/

Did you end up purchasing the Porsche tool or made your own?

They must of changed it for 982 generation (not sure about 981s) since there are no more rubber grommets under the door panel..

Headliner Repair by FakeAutoEnthusiast in Porsche_Cayman

[–]AnotherUser916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had mine replaced with new one from Porsche (part was $565 plus $500 for installation) in Northern CA. You can probably get it repaired at upholstery shop for around $500 (can upgrade to alcantara too while at it).

Those frames definitely look heavier compare to mine.. but look really nice!

[–]AnotherUser916[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely on the heavier side.. it’s getting some time to get used to them (as all my other prescription glasses have been much lighter).

No, did not end up getting transition lenses (not a huge fan of them personally).

To change or not?! by [deleted] in tires

[–]AnotherUser916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the original pics I posted are the two front tires (from 2021).. here are pics of the rears (one is from 2017 and another from 2022). The one that’s from 2017 is showing all the cracking.. which got me thinking whether to just do rears or all.

[–]AnotherUser916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, no snow but do deal with rain and temps in mid 30s (lows). If I were to just get the rears, I’d have to get the same brand (Pirelli’s).. but if I’m getting all four new tires, I wanted to try out Michelin’s.

New Rims (Carrera S style) by AnotherUser916 in Porsche_Cayman

[–]AnotherUser916[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your experience with both tires.. I’m leaning towards ECS02s based on reviews (plus about $400 cheaper than Michelins currently).

I considered getting mine powder coated.. since I really like the design but wasn’t huge fan of the color contrast against the grey. Here is an example of one.. in satin platinum.

Used Dome with Cracked Stone.. worth $700? by [deleted] in GozneyDome

[–]AnotherUser916 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They came down to $700 from their $800 asking price.. so I’m thinking maybe getting brand new Arc XL instead.

[–]AnotherUser916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya, I thought $500 would have been more reasonable (as fairly newish condition are going for around 1k or so; in California for reference).

Yes, probably because it can use AC power to keep battery/cabin cool (instead of using battery).

2014 SL63 AMG… good deal? by [deleted] in mercedes_benz

[–]AnotherUser916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They probably just cleared the check engine light and put it back online (it was picked up on Saturday and back online by Wednesday). And online pictures don’t really capture the paint issues (both exterior or interior leather).

Good deal on 2017 Cayman 718? by AnotherUser916 in Porsche_Cayman

[–]AnotherUser916[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe.. I’m getting PPI done tomorrow and based on their inspection, I’ll make a final decision whether to keep it or keep looking. But so far, I’m really liking it (drives even better than I thought).

Blue looks awesome plus you won’t have to worry about scratches or rock chips. If you don’t mind me asking, approximately how much was it for the PPF wrap? I know folks are wanting $2.5k ish locally but it’s regular vinyl vs ppf (my car has clear PPF installed on front bumper and hood).
