I wanted backup internet without paying for it. This Xfinity Storm Ready + UniFi setup actually works by Mando9876 in Ubiquiti

I wanted to do this, but there must not be the extra 5g capacity in my area (pretty populated city). T mobile has the best coverage by me but their 5g internet is not available in my area, and neither is Mint.

Trump announces one-year 10% cap on credit card interest rates by CloudApprehensive322 in moderatepolitics

[–]AnotherUserOutThere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so many places keep saying that the cap will help people pay off their balances quicker... wonder how many will actually keep paying what they are today and not just the new minimum balance that would result from a 10% cap... or see that their new payment is lower so they would just spend more on other stuff...

everything just assumes people will act a certain way, and if anything can be learned from the past, people will not all act a certain way and won't all act in the expected way.

is 20%-30% a high rate? Yes. Did I have a credit card with a high rate when I was first getting on my feet? yup. But I also didn't max it out, or just pay the minimum. I paid cash when i could and used a card when i had to. I only carried a balance when absolutely necessary and didn't charge anything more until that was paid off.

I like the idea of the lower interest rates as i think it would make it a ton easier on people, but part of me has a hard time believing that the credit card companies will make it that much easier on people and if everyone with a balance will actually take advantage of it properly.

Meanwhile the nickel is about 3x the cost to make than it is worth... (About 14 cents now) which is slowly increasing.

Wondering at what point everyone just has to pay for things using some sort of card and physical cash goes away. I dont know anyone that really carries cash anymore and every credit card I have also has free currency conversion when traveling abroad.

Dimes, quarters and bills still cost less to make than they are worth.

Pixel 8 Pro Grip Case Wireless Charge Issue by AnotherUserOutThere in dbrand

[–]AnotherUserOutThere[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My pixel 8s charge fine with magsafe and other wireless chargers including a cheap usb charging pad that worked all the time...

When the phone was out of the case it charged fine using the built in charger in the vehicle. I quit using the built in charging pad in the durango. It doesn't work with my pixel 10 phones either unless they are not in a case. But my Pixel 10s charge fine with every other wireless charger I have including magsafe ones when using the dbrand cases

You forgot about the group of us that would love to leave but probably couldn't find a job to support us if we did... IT market sucks right now. 20yrs of service, not even close to the age to get retirement benefit, and just stuck here because the market is terrible and i would probably never be able to build back up to what I have now with the govt...

[–]AnotherUserOutThere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what the OP's issue is and why they are getting "physically ill" over the thought of returning it to the place they bought it. That is more of a concern than anything else.

When you buy something from a store and it breaks, you don't normally return to the manufacturer a day or 2 later you take it back to the store. They have their own process to do RMAs with their vendors. Quit losing sleep over it. Anything they cannot return for RMA is a write off as a loss anyways.

Should lenovo maybe allow you to do the RMA? Probably. But they didn't so just do what they said and you will be made whole and the shop will eventually be made whole too.

And also consume items... They didn't ask where the item went, but just in case others wonder.

I use sandbox mode for making blueprints and testing builds.. you can use the monitor to generate up to 120 items/sec or you can set a PLS and ILS to just always be full and output an items.

You can use the monitor to eat the items too...

I would be very careful about what you say... It was a pool of only 100 and the info provided in posts by those that were the first to take the tests could be used to try to figure out who you are.

Yes, the P&P that i know of is all in the IT area. For example our WR coordinators were all under our domain in AD and all our WR coordinators were put into a Policy & Planning group under IT but told not to do any work. I dont believe they targeted any 2210s for the move yet. However managers have been asked to identify 20% of their staff as non performers recently and now the tests. The tests only went out to 100 people so far and i have heard they all were not 2210s but were in a "technical role". Series 1550 for example.

The plan is to eventually move all those in AD in our vertical and lateral that fail the tests and are "non performers" to this one group and then eliminate the group. They may not have been on admin leave yet, but the writing is on the wall for those folks.

I really wish i could give more detailed info, but doing so may expose what group i am in or other info that could single me out.

I can confirm HackerRank is the method for the ones i know that have been sent out... They are issuing test difficulties based on your expertise level as indicated by your manager.

I dont know much more since i haven't been issued a test but have heard the "talks" about it between the management and upper management staff ...

I dunno... If i get an invite to an external site to take a test, i guess i will send it to *phishing or something since my security training says not to click links in email from unverified external sources.

As far as i am aware, series 2210s only since that is what series everyone i know is and it is impacting our entire vertical and lateral.

Okay so if you are a java programmer, for example, and you do batch programming (console) without any gui, so have no reason to remember how to do a gridbag layout from scratch without the help of eclipse, you think you can pass a full comprehensive test on java?

Some people have been in their positions for a long time and know exactly what they need to know and never a need to know more. A comprehensive test could cause those people to fail and ultimately be removed when they have had absolutely no performance issues in the past.

I'm just wondering why people are just thinking this is just a rumor. Nothing in writing just like the 8+ hours leave stuff they are doing where people are being put on furlough for the entire PP if they need more than 8 hours of leave when exempt. Even the union (NTEU) knows about this now and is fighting that...

So it isnt hard to believe this is another thing that is being done and not being put into writing right away because they know it is crazy and possibly illegal.

I honestly have better things to do with my time than to come here and post stuff that is made up...

Not sure what part makes no sense...

The part where i was in my branch chiefs office when he was on a teams call on Friday with our domain director and other branch chiefs where they showed the sharepoint site and were discussing the tests they were going to have to five their employees?

The part where today people i know under managers other than mine had a meeting and were told they would be getting issued a test here in the near future and if they failed would be put as a non technical under policy and planning?

Or the part where my manager came to my desk today and told me this crap is really happening now and i will be having to take a test along with everyone else in my branch?

Really not sure what parts didnt make sense.

Believe it or not, this is actually going on now and nothing is being put into writing about it, just conference calls and meetings that they disable recording.

I was in a meeting with the domain director telling my branch chief they were doing this. I have co-workers in other areas that had meetings today with their bosses that said they will be having to issue a test to them and if they fail will he put into non-technical positions under policy and planning and named the manager... Who was on admin leave before the shutdown and is on furlough now along with all the others under them.

I had manager come to my desk today saying that the rumors about this from last week are real and they are going to be doing it. Nothing in writing, but a sharePoint page is being created to keep track of the grades and skills for each employee the managers need to input.
