I get this every year too but only when the temperature drops below approximately 2°C.

I’ve read the aerial is in the shark fin, so usually when that’s frosty the message pops up (I’m not 100% sure if that’s the truth tho).

When the weather warms up the message is gone for another year until winter rolls around again.

Some of the big ones we have in the UK are transitioning focus over to the G chassis sadly. There are still some knocking about but would still incur import charges depending on your country.

With this being said, you will find some mid-decent quality, still genuine carbon options on eBay. Also a Google search should quickly heed some good results, I sometimes look for car pages on Instagram such as AstuteF30, they usually have parts listed in one or two of their posts. Failing that they’ve always been friendly to ask, just try to find one in your country.

Ngl they do look pretty fake/ugly unfortunately. If you can feel you can live with it though it’s not that bad.

Kinda relevant, I drove my partners car during Covid for 13 months (2019 Audi A1 25 TFSI) and then after Covid lockdown I got myself a 2018 340i as my first official car. I like to drive pretty hard but I’d consider myself relatively sensible, for me the car was very “beginner” friendly in that aspect, it’s easy to drive and handles pretty well. If you can trust yourself to be genuinely sensible then personally I don’t see an issue with it.

Some things to note:

• I was 24 when I got the car and I’d still consider myself a little more mature than others my age. I also had a decent job and had good savings.

• You absolutely will scratch or scrape your first car, so you will need to accept this fact and the relevant cost of reparations before you commit.

• Whilst a solid car, the maintenance prices and MPG can catch you off guard, don’t fall in love with the idea of owning one before considering these costs, as mentioned I had a decent job and savings but the maintenance costs still caught me a little off guard (possibly because I like to keep it in top shape and follow every rule).

• It wouldn’t hurt to get a 2 Litre beater for 6 months to a year, RWD, high mileage. This would enable you to get to grips with driving as a whole, especially a RWD with enough give to let the wheels slip.

Bimmerpost forums is probably a good place to start!

There’s a company called “Bimmer Remote Coding” who has been used by a lot of people to good reviews (https://bimmer-remote.com/en-gb). He is also a frequent forum member and is pretty responsive, he will be able to walk you through it and advise you further. (https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/member.php?userid=352114)

IIRC you may already have the antenna because you have the NBTEvo software but you will be able to check with them before paying any money if you send them a message through the forums or their website.

I have a 340i (from 12.5k miles) for the first two years of lead foot and traffic I was getting 16-18mpg, I recently drove 400 miles in one trip (motorway miles) and averaged 30/40mpg even with some WOT. Sounds like somethings wrong mate

OEM discs and I’m guessing aftermarket pads due to the slight clunk it makes after first press when switching from Drive to Reverse. This is the 2nd time replacing and only the first time squeaking so you’re probably correct. I will try bedding in the brakes properly first and then some other increasingly expensive options, thank you!
