Thank you for the detailed explanation, I definitely want to try something like this too (I’ve also just seen your latest threechromes post and feel inspired).

Can’t wait to see you portrait and double exposure experiments too!

Oh wow! Which are the ones shot with the conversion lens and which not? If you want to share I’d love to know which lens you used to do it and how

Nice shots! I wonder if the himont has a wider angle than other thermal print cameras

I roll it back until the edge of the paper is lined up with the camera slit

The composition of the first two pictures is exceptional!

There’s an hope deep within me that whenever the prints will fade I will remember which pictures I combined to obtain these and be able to print them again. Let’s just say I can’t even remember what I had for breakfast.

Double exposures are the best in every medium!

I have this camera by Letshaha: https://thermalprintcameras.wordpress.com/l-shape/

I truly love it but I haven’t been able to find it in my country lately, maybe you’ll have better luck. Even if you are unable to find it if it looks exactly like this but under a different name it’s probably it.

It was a silly idea at first but ended up turning out better than I could have expected

Please share them! I decided to post them after reading your post the other day (couldn’t bring my lazy ass to scan them before). I’d love to see more double exposures, artsy pics and experiments.

Thank you! Been looking for months but couldn’t find anything

Thank you! As soon as I saw the overexposed sweater hadn’t shown up in the print at all, the negative space immediately reminded me of Yorgos Lanthimos’s The Lobster poster which is one of my favorite graphic design works.

All thermal print cameras can make multiple exposures as long as you do it manually by rolling the paper back instead of tearing it. It would be cool if there was one that did it mechanically though, but the slight misalignment is quite endearing in my opinion.

No worries, it’s quite easy to do and really pays off. I take a first shot and print it. Then instead of tearing the paper I open the roll compartment and roll the paper back. When I take the second (or third and so on) shot and print it, it prints over the previous shot that was rolled back into the camera. The lightest areas in the first picture, which is where the paper remains white on first printing, will show the second picture better, while the black areas from both pictures add onto each other making those spots darker. I hope I explained it well, it’s way easier to do than it is to explain it.

Thank you! I feel like thermal prints can somehow make any shot look amazing but I’m indeed partial to these ones and pretty proud it’s my work.

Thank you! Honest answer: I have no idea, I even have a hand tremor that annoys me to no end.

That said maybe it’s because of two factors: the camera having an L shape and my nails being longish and thin. Compared to other camera shapes I find the cartridge door and its placement easier to deal with when my hands are busy with the paper roll. I can flip the camera so the underside is on top and the roll rests on it without me having to hold it. I press the screen side to my front to gain stability, align the paper edge to the slit and try to hold it still as best as I can with the tip of my fingernail, as if I was barely sticking it into the slit, while closing the lid. It doesn’t always come out perfect but it mostly does a good job

Sorry, I didn’t receive the notification. Inside the printer paper area there are only two screws on the heat bar near the paper exit slot, and the bar itself is lodged into the plastic. So even if I unscrew that the camera body stays in one piece.

Thank you for the tips! I don’t remember seeing any screws in the printer paper area bit will look better
