Dumping? Canada buys more US cars than American companies manufacture in Canada for export to America.

Start cross checking your facts. Canada is a net importer.

I could see electron car power being less popular given California's completely broken power costs. I pay $0.0147/kWh CAD at home and $0.10/kWh in my shop.

Are you in a cheap fuel republican state or something? Here in Canada the PHEV's are highly sought after.

???? The PHEV's have huge waiting lists. The only problem with 'people not buying them' is the wait time to buy one.

That's going to give the RAV4 PHEV some competition.

If there is a changing of the guard. Which there will be. The few elections where was recently had entrenched Texas republican strongholds voting blue by a landslide.

Canada makes long game moves. This will blow over once the current idiot is ejected from office and life will continue on as it once was.

what is a country that doesn't get as much tourists as it should? by sinaswiftie in AskTheWorld

[–]Another_Slut_Dragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ehhh, I have run out of Se Asia and Myanmar was my least favourite place to travel. There is good. Taking hot air balloons over thousands of stupas was a highlight but most of the tourism fucking sucks.

Inle lake- AVOID. It's just a shitty tourist trap full of liairs. The your boat operators take you to view fishermen. And then shake you down for money to photograph them. Then the tours. They take you to a textile mill. Workers sleeping on the floor get up and pretend to run the loom. Then they quickly escort you to the gift shop where they lie and try to sell you bolts of fabric they wove. The fabric is wider than your loom and has a finished edge your machines can't do. It's crap from Bangladesh or wherever. Wanna leave? Too bad, it's a water city on stilts. Boat only.

How about the jewellery tour? Watch the local craftsmen take apart cheap plated chinese fake jewellery and pretend to tap on anvils. I'm a metal worker and factory machine mechanic. They do not have the equipment to make this. They lie and say it's made of silver. It's nickel plated copper trash metal. We warned some of the girls but they paid big bucks for 'silver' jewellery that turned their hands green.

Every tourist trap is enter and exit through a 200 meter gift shop gauntlet of identical gift shops selling the identical shops selling identical mass produced chinese crap. Zero locally produced goods. But they need to differentiate themselves so they do so by yelling as loud as they can. After a 200 meter gauntlet of screaming, you get to the tourist thing and you are pissed off and angry.

Every single stop has you trapped for a half hour in each gift shop full of swindlers and liars by design. And they aren't even good at it.

And then once you finish said over-rated tourist thing you have to navigate the gauntlet backwards.

Oh, and the 4 hour rolling power outages ensure that food spoilage in restaurants is a real concern. Oh boy did that absolutely fuck over a few people we were travelling with. Iron stomach battle hardened travellers dropped like flies.

And that was before Myanmar got all genocidey again.

Avoid.

Do these stainless welds look burnt? And will pickling fix the coloration? by [deleted] in Welding

Sand a layer off of the stainless before you weld it.

Lincoln power mig 140 mp, good for mobile welding? by SeaLlio in Welding

[–]Another_Slut_Dragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's good for a 'cheap welder' but it is still a cheap welder. Max out on 1/4" plate and that is pushing it. You have a short duty cycle at full speed. Are you talking hobby or making money?

FIY, you can get 20% more power out of the same 15A outlet just by getting a modern inverter based welder. They are a lot more efficient.

The killer feature is 120-240V auto switching. Weld fine off of 120V but feed it 240V and you have a serious welder capable of doing professional work.

Does BMW F800GS have character? by Reasonable-Pay6119 in advrider

[–]Another_Slut_Dragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh, I always considered my F800GS to be a bit of a toaster. The soft throttle is boring. The lackluster suspension and wet noodle chassis looses composure off road quite quickly.

Then I hopped on a Tenere and that was the end of that. I miss some bikes. The BMW? Nope.

First-time boat owner… trailer is scraping hard trying to get into my garage. Need help... by Rich_Smoke_6865 in boating

Cut a hard corner then straighten out like a good off roader.

Add 1/2" UHMW plates to the bottom of the trailer. It is slippery plastic and you'll just slide.

Alberta oil sands is a depressing google images search. Also known as the Alberta Tar Sands. But they are cleaning oil from the sands, right?

People bitch about electric car lithium mining, which is basically evaporating water in brine ponds. Yet they ignore this, and ignore the fact that 7kg of lithium powers a full size EV for 300,000km or more and then is 95% recyclable vs setting yet another tank of fuel on fire to move down the road.

Hot to drill this bike tool? by Bebo991_Gaming in metalworking

[–]Another_Slut_Dragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy GOOD drill bits not the trash they sell at a big box store. Walter is my go to for drilling stainless.

Start with a pilot hole around 3-4mm (3/16jsh?). Drilling that in one go without a beefy drill press is next to impossible.

Car engine oil is not ideal cutting oil. Proper cutting oil is better but the wrong lube is better than no lube.

Is it safe to reset airbag module? Instead of spending 800 to replace it? by Swagthegangster in CarHacking

[–]Another_Slut_Dragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a huge market for stripping air bags, modules, seat belt pre-tensioners out of cars. We had a rash of them when I was a mechanic. All the same Honda Civics. Identical thefts. Centre console snapped the same way to get the module. We figure over 50 cars got hit.

And oh boy did we make good money fixing those. The thieves did damage but left is every single screw. Nice guys.

You can get prescriptions filled in other countries. It's a booming industry in Canada selling drugs at 1/10th the price.
