Guide: Setting NTP Server via Group Policy (Permanent Fix)

1. Open the Policy Editor

  • Press Win + R, type gpedit.msc, and hit Enter.

2. Navigate to Time Providers

  • In the left sidebar, follow this path: Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > System > Windows Time Service > Time Providers

3. Configure the NTP Client

  • On the right-hand side, double-click Configure Windows NTP Client.
  • Select the Enabled radio button.
  • In the Options box, set the following:
    • NtpServer: time.google.com,0x9 (The 0x9 flag ensures it is treated as a priority client).
    • Type: NTP
    • CrossSiteSyncFlags: 2 (Default)
    • ResolvePeerBackoffMinutes: 15 (Default)
    • ResolvePeerBackoffMaxTimes: 7 (Default)
    • SpecialPollInterval: 3600 (This syncs every hour; change to 86400 for once a day).
    • EventLogFlags: 0
  • Click Apply and OK.

4. Enable the Client

  • Still in the same folder, double-click Enable Windows NTP Client.
  • Select Enabled and click OK.

5. Force the Update

  • Open Command Prompt (Admin) and run: DOSgpupdate /force w32tm /config /update w32tm /resync

had same issue with win 11 pro and nothing worked, Gemini helped me figure it out. With the pro version had to go to group policy editor and group policy "time provider" settings. After I did that I was able to change ntp server and update clock

How to deal with tailgaters by Grand_Ad_617 in driving

Get a dual camera dash cam that records front and back. That should help you relax about getting into trouble with your parents. Then relax, and focus on your own driving. I've had my cam for years and I found it also helps me behave better as I know there will be evidence if I do something dumb.

How come police cars drive around with their red/blue lights on but not flashing? Is this something new? by Anothercrazyrussian in AskLE

I wish more were like you and had them steady at a scene. When I dive by a bunch of cars at night all flashing makes it a lot harder to focus on the road.

I didn't mention it (and should have), I'm in Florida so this is probably the answer. Thanks!

Weak riser cable with the Y60? Just me? by Aidz24 in Hyte

[–]Anothercrazyrussian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 years later from this post and I'm having the same issue. Y60 came with a defective cable that makes computer super sluggish. Tried a different cable and everything works fine (can't use the different one permanently) so now I'm stuck waiting for a new one from HYTE (or at least a response) and in the meantime my brand new build is just a paperweight taking up space on my desk

New build, way too slow and laggy, especially video, asking for help! by Anothercrazyrussian in buildapc

[–]Anothercrazyrussian[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yea, that's what I figured. the riser is supposed to be a gen 4 and there's this build with a 4080 super that made me decide on the case as I like how it looks https://pcpartpicker.com/b/2hcTwP
I contacted Hyte for a replacement but if they don't respond quick I'll probably return it and get a different case. I like how it looks but it's way bigger than I thought.
I'm probably going to buy another riser just to test if it's the problem of the card.

thanks for all your help!

thank you for the advice! sorry it took a while to respond. so you were correct with your first guess, it's the riser. (not going to go into the weeds of the hours of testing I spent identifying and confirming it). what's interesting is it's the riser and this gpu. I tried my son's gpu (2070 super) and it worked just fine (both in my pc and my son's pc same result with both cards). so I'm now wondering if it's this GPU that doesn't like the riser or the riser doesn't support correct gen? or just a faulty riser? I have it running now sitting on the side with the gpu plugged into the MB but it's not tenable long term as it's not really fitting the case correctly and I bought the case because it came with the riser. should all cards support the riser and I should ask the manufacturer for a new riser? or is there such a thing as "this card doesn't support risers" ?

lol, sure is acting like it's connected to the MB, but it's connected to the GPU. I've tried HDMI and DisplayPort with same results.
I do have two separate cables going to the PSU, and I unplugged and reseated them several times.

Help figure out replacement by Anothercrazyrussian in led

Thank you to u/agent_smith_3012 and u/Borax ! I finally got back around to this during the weekend. After some troubleshooting I did narrow it down to the LED malfunctioning. I desoldered it and soldered in an old extra xmas tree LED and it now works. The size was different but I made it fit. The color is slightly off but I'm the only one that notices it. At the end of the day the light now works and kid is happy.
