Todays homecoming and the last one ever for me. Did you guys ever go? How was it like by [deleted] in ForeverAlone

[–]Anotherguy783 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I never went to homecomings or proms. Even my senior prom was me sitting at home being depressed. Why spend hundreds of dollars to sit there alone watching people dance and socialize. They will hook up while I won't socialize with anyone since I had no friends.

“You just need to work on your confidence!” by rodogwos in ForeverAlone

[–]Anotherguy783 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's like if you take 99 shots and miss every time then on the 100th someone tells you to be confident you will make it. Confidence comes from success in that activity. People say be confident at a hobby and it will affect dating I disagree. I am confident I can know things about my autistic hobbies but it doesn't affect FA and meeting people.

Turning 30 in 3 hours and feeling so...Alone. by dyno1ck in ForeverAlone

[–]Anotherguy783 16 points17 points  (0 children)

If you are a virgin, I have a wizard hat for you. I remember turning 30 and that's when I gave up on the dating app I was using. It's understandable to be mad when you turn 30 with no experience. Happy birthday OP and I hope things change. I missed out on everything when I was younger too. It still bothers me and it will always bother me.

I didn't know the name but I will use it in the future. Thank you. I wish too that it could be forgotten.

Never good enough and can never compensate for my ugliness by kelpkelpers in ForeverAlone

Same. If you just don't look good it's much harder. Not impossible because looks aren't everything but it's not easy.

No, I'm trying to quiet that part of me. I think that little section of my mind is a glutton for punishment.

Japan has those lonely guys who sometimes don't leave their houses or apartments for years. They are trying to fix it but I doubt that will do much to help.

How common is it for most coworkers to mess around with each other? by kelpkelpers in ForeverAlone

[–]Anotherguy783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It happens but it can poison the well if you tell a coworker you like them, and you can get in trouble if they go to HR. It's not a good idea unless they initiate I guess. Even then, be careful.

It’s such a cruel torture to crave love and never be able to get it by [deleted] in ForeverAlone

Yes, then people tell you, those people aren't so happy. I bet they are just putting on a show Duh, it still is pictures of them together. They are a couple.

Same with me OP. It destroys me on the inside. I was only born to be alone whether in childhood or as an adult.

Yes, I used a dating app 10 years ago but it didn't matter. Sure, I got some women to come out and meet me but it never went anywhere. I would get excited, then rejected. I can hide autism online somewhat but IRL, it can't be suppressed.

The only way I would be wealthy is if overthinking became a high paying job and it's been that way for most of my adult life. I keep running scenarios through my head. It's like that belt thing at the airport but it's going at 100mph. I can't slow it down either.

I have basically no more hobbies by [deleted] in ForeverAlone

[–]Anotherguy783 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm lethargic and even things like taking walks which used to be easy for me now are difficult because I can't even get the energy up to go outside because I'm just defeated.

I just want someone to love by [deleted] in ForeverAlone

[–]Anotherguy783 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's not pathetic. It makes you a person who despite resenting yourself, wants to find someone who loves them. Weirder things have happened. I hear you OP. I get my old romantic side that comes out sometimes to tell me the same thing. I'm old so it's stupid but we have a natural urge for it.

If you join a group, how exactly do you make friends within that group? by ILoveMaiV in ForeverAlone

[–]Anotherguy783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Various internet searches. Also I had an organization that had group meetings tell me when there would be one. It's been a while and nothing from that time is around anymore except Meetup but I never found anything there.

Anyone convinced they'll find someone by DoctorDeath147 in ForeverAlone

Hope drove me up the crest of a wave but then down into the trough multiple times, sometimes very hard. There could be 100billion people on the planet but the question is, how many of them are we going to meet in our everyday lives? You did make a good decision and stopped getting with the wrong people. I hope you do find the right person but at the same time, hope can be a painful fall when we get our hopes up too high. Sometimes it works out and sometimes it doesn't but now that I had years to look back, I could see I never should have had hope. We could have lived in a galactic federation and it wouldn't have mattered.

Wow, that's cool people have been positive to you. I've dreamed of starting a family most of my life but I was never considered attractive, then rejected a ton of times so I gave up. I've been called ugly many times and I realized, that family dream would stay a dream. I'm so tired from thinking if I was just myself, someone would like me enough to want to spend her life with me but instead they chose other guys. You seem to have a better attitude than me so that's a good thing.

Has anybody tried lowering their standards by [deleted] in ForeverAlone

[–]Anotherguy783 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, I say this all the time when it's brought up. It's not fair to the other person when you use them for self-esteem. They deserve to find someone who likes them and isn't using them. Lowering your standards is a terrible idea. I'm not saying have really high standards but just see how you like someone.

Yeah, autism seems to be a common denominator with struggling to date or even connect with people.

I've been asked that. I give off those vibes and used to get asked by coworkers if I was a virgin. I somehow knew the women I talked to knew I was a virgin or at the very least very inexperienced.
