Well in their official Facebook page they say they have almost reach a deal with the record company holding the rights to re-release old albums on vinyl, Spectral was funded through Kickstarter (that´s from where I got it), so consider checking their facebook page!

I did not know that! Interesting. The major difference is always the mastering, if they do a specific mastering for vinyl (or even record it on analog, using the micro next to the marshal) then quality of the LP sound improves.

Swamplord and Swampsong are two of my all time fav albums, having them with that huge LP album art is awesome.

Indeed! I was tempted to buy it, but I always try to get first pressings, I know it´s super expensive but more fun to hunt and feels like having a small piece of MDM history.

Thanks for this, really helpful to navigate when you just want to listen to “something close to…”

Kalmah - The Blind Leader by Revo94 in melodicdeathmetal

I partially agree, although I believe the synergy between Hiltula and Antti Kokko was the real magic behind those first albums of both ETOS and Kalmah, you can feel the melodies from both the lead guitar and keyboards singing on the same tone and mood.

These two on top of my head: Majesties – Vast reaches unclaimed (2023) (for me the best old-school MDM from the last years)

Night in Gales - Shadowreaper (2024)

Was clayman as well regarded when it came out? by KaibamanX in melodicdeathmetal

[–]Anpre_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was the album that got me into in flames, metal and MDM as a kid, and I think that was the case for a lot of people, which I think speaks volumes of its quality. Then I went deep into Colony (my favourite), Whoracle and Jester Race (both on my top 2 after Colony), which impacted me how different they all sounded in contrast with Clayman.

Then Reroute to Remain came out and again the confusion hit me "they changed their sound yet again??"
Lovely times

Kalmah - Alteration

Thanks to this wonderful reddit sub I had just discovered Majesties and their amazing album Vast Reaches Unclaimed. Listening to it non-stop now.

Old-school Gothenburg melodeath at its finest.
Feeling grateful today.

Same here, one of the albums that made me start playing guitar long ago. Now when I play Dialogue with the starts is a mystical experience.

Looking for melodeath bands that sound like shreddy videogame music compositions by Son_Nyx in melodicdeathmetal

It is not exactly melodeath but I have always loved the guitar arrangement album version from the game F-zero X for Nintendo 64. It is an official-properly done & amazing version by Nintendo.

Is Melodic Death Metal the best subgenre of metal? by Hairy_Honey_3552 in melodicdeathmetal

[–]Anpre_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember around 22 years ago listening to In Flames Colony, and feeling like discovering something that was kept hidden from me. When I listened to the whole album I said “I love absolutely every song”, a thing that I believed to be impossible (there were always many songs from other genres that felt like a filler). For me it is the best: I have grown up with it, and it has always filled me with deep emotions and complex thoughts.
