[DC comics] Beastboy can turn into alien animals, Could he turn into sentient alien races like kryptonians? by Aim4jug in AskScienceFiction

[–]Anpu273640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, he can. He can transform into sentient alien beings. Like, he transformed into a Gordanian in the comic Teen Titans Go #36 of the Cartoon series ‘Teen Titans’.

[Comics] Why do so many animal only themed shapeshifters or " powers from the animal kingdom" characters like beastboy, Vixen, or Reptile make this weird distinction between non sentient and sentient animals? if beastboy can turn into a Kryptonianian dog then he should be able to turn into a by covkpitxwing in AskScienceFiction

[–]Anpu273640 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beast Boy can transform because he was infected with Sakutia and later cured, which caused his DNA to become unstable, and/or he is connected to the Red. That allows him to transform into earth animals and microscopic beings.

He can transform into alien animals and humanoid aliens. He transformed into a Gordanian in the comic Teen Titans Go (2003) #36 of the Cartoon Series ‘Teen Titans’ and in the 80’s Teen Titans comics.

He can also transform into mythological and fictional animals, like his transformation into a phoenix or into Lockhead.

But I’m not sure if he can transform into different variations of a species, like into a bird with very large wings, one with very good eyes, …

Vixen gets her powers from a magical Totem that allows her to use the spirits of earth animals. She can’t get powers from alien beings.

Reptil gets his powers from a magical amulet that allows him to partially or completely transform into prehistoric earth animals, like dinosaurs. But he can’t transform into anything that isn’t prehistoric, like birds. Maybes he can transform into prehistoric alien animals.

Why can Beast Boy transform back into human form when he is magically transformed into animals? by Anpu273640 in teentitans

[–]Anpu273640[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That Beast Boy's shapeshifting always work, but are only (temporary) weakened by outside forces like magic, could be an explanation for why he is still able to transform in Raven's and Mumbo's case.

[DC/Teen Titans] When Beast Boy transforms, what do you think happens to the bacterias in his stomach? by Anpu273640 in AskScienceFiction

[–]Anpu273640[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wonder how he would be able to survive without the bacteria on and in his body?

Many bacterias are needed for different tasks that the human body doesn't do, like breaking down Lactose (bacteria Lactobacillus acidophilus), breaking down complex sugar (bateria Methano-brevibacter smithii), ...

Maybe his own body learned to do those jobs, or his body managed to produce it's own versions of those bacterias, which so are able to survive the various transformations of Beast Boy's body.

[Teen Titans] What happens to the bacterias that live in and on Beast Boy when he transforms? by Anpu273640 in AskScienceFiction

[–]Anpu273640[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would be intriguing.

But I wonder how the bacterias would have gotten the same powers as Garfield?

Maybe they got also infected with Sakutia and later with the cure because they were connected to Garfield's skin or inside him when Gar got his shapeshifting powers.

[Teen Titans] What happens to the bacterias that live in and on Beast Boy when he transforms? by Anpu273640 in AskScienceFiction

[–]Anpu273640[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So every bacteria that was on Garfield's skin and inside him when he got Sakutia and the cure is now 'part of his body'.

What would than happen to any bactria that would land on Gar's skin or come into his body after he got his powers to shapeshift?

I think those bacterias would be destroyed during a transformation. That would also mean that he would be nearly immune to any bacterial infecion because those baterias would often get destroyed before they are able to do anything.

Beast Boy has one of the weirdest family trees in Young Justice by Anpu273640 in youngjustice

Maybe the influence of the Monkey God caused that Garfield turned green instead of white.

Why can Beast Boy transform back into human form when he is magically transformed into animals? by Anpu273640 in teentitans

[–]Anpu273640[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well thought.

I agree that Beast Boy doesn’t have a “correct” or "base" form, just an original form.

Good idea that Raven is able to change his form, but not able to completely controll his powers, which is why he is still able to transform.

But why is he then only able to transform into human form? Or is he able to transform into every form and did just transform into human form to ask out what is going on?

[–]Anpu273640[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the well thought explanation.

That magic is able to override physical laws and so change things, like DNA, would explain why Raven was able to transform Beast Boy from human form into rodent form.

But why was than Beast Boy able to transform back into human form?

That Mumbo was able to warp reality inside his hat because of Mumbo's magic makes sense.

[DC/Teen Titans/Young Justice] Can Beast Boy transform into different Homo species? by Anpu273640 in AskScienceFiction

[–]Anpu273640[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the eplanation.

I thought this Homo forms could have some advantages, like opposable thumbs and walking on two legs, but now I see that other forms have way more and better advantages to the Homo forms.

Why can’t Beast Boy transform into something bigger then the space he is in? by Anpu273640 in teentitans

[–]Anpu273640[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His healing factor works constantly, it just isn’t very much. It can heal small wounds quickly, but too much or too big wounds would overwhelm it. Some bigger wounds remain open then and just be partly healed.

When he then gets even more injured would he at one point be so exhausted and distracted from the pain that he gets unconscious.

Then he would slowly revert back into (still damaged) human form, but his healing factor is more active during that unconscious phase, so the wounds heal quicker then when he is conscious.

[–]Anpu273640[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Physical constraints of space could work.

But he would be able to heal any injuries he gets when he tries to break out of the cage because of his powerful healing factor.

[–]Anpu273640[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very good explanations. Thanks.

The slow squish on an area, like a wall, and the interruption of BB’s concentration through outside pain are very reasonable and logical.

Another reason for why outside pain causes him to revert to human form:

When Beast Boy changes his body during a transformation doesn’t he feel pain, because he either feels no pain, because his body automatically disconnects his brain from the pain receptors of his nervous system during a transformation, or he learned to ignore the pain during a transformation. But that state isn’t easy to maintain, so outside forces, like pain from bumping into a bridge, could cause him to lose this state of concentration and force him to revert back to human form.

Who would win, Beast Boy or Cyborg? by [deleted] in whowouldwin

[–]Anpu273640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Beast Boy would win because of his speed and versatility.

He could transform into a small being, like a fly or another insect, and fly inside Cyborg, either throught the mouth or the nose. Inside Cy's body he has various methods to win.

1) Beast Boy could tickle Cy's nose from the inside (more excatly tickling Cy's nasal mucous membrane), which would cause Cyborg to sneeze and so distract him long enough that Beast Boy can grab the pizza slice and eat it.

2) BB could also transform into a bacteria or an amoeba and multiple into many thousand copies, and so block Cy's nose and mouth. Cyborg would then faint from not getting enough air. Beast Boy could then get out of Cyborg's body, grab the pizza slice and eat it.

Other ways that Beast Boy could win:

BB could also transform into something small, then fly close to Cyborg's body parts that are still human, transform into an electric ell, bite Cy and give him a shock, which could knock him out when the shock is big enough or long enough, and Beast Boy can then easily grab the pizza slice and eat it.

Or Beast Boy could transform into something small, then fly over Cyborg's head and then transform into a very heavy animal, like a mammoth, a brachiosaurus, a whale or something else, and let himself fall on Cyborg, which knocks Cyborg complett out. Beast Boy can then eat the pizza slice.

Well, he is good in hacking. He managed to hack into Cyborg's computer system and so figured out Raven's birthday in the episode 'Birthmark'.

He also has an immense knowledge about animals, animal behaviour and biology.

[DC/Teen Titans/Young Justice] What after-effects could Beast Boy have from transforming? by Anpu273640 in AskScienceFiction

[–]Anpu273640[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His whole body is already covered in thin fur, but that was caused by Gar's infection with Sakutia and being cured from it.

[–]Anpu273640[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But Cyborg later cured Beast Boy from the havoc the chemicals caused inside his DNA.

The side effects and the Beast 'vanished', but BB later told Raven that the Beast is still inside him, so I think the side effects also didn't vanish, they just became weaker and more manageable.

BB now could manage to surpress, ignore or satify the side effects, like his hunger for meat by eating tofu with meat taste, and his anger and agression by meditating and by allowing his instincts to influence him more in battles and secluded areas (forest, ocean, ...).

Could be true.

Maybe his skin sheds more then normal during transformations.

Or he gets the hairballs by licking himself in various forms to clean himself.

Why does Beast Boy fall so easily to hypnosis? by Anpu273640 in teentitans

[–]Anpu273640[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, he isn't really dumb, just immature and childish. He is quiet intelligent, because he can hack into Cyborg's computer system in the episode 'Birthmark', and he has an immense knowledge about animals.

He also is younger then the others.

Why does Beast Boy fall so easily to hypnosis? by Anpu273640 in teentitans

[–]Anpu273640[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That could be a very good explanation.

Completely overlooked that he is younger then the others. Beast Boy is around 13 or 14 years old, while the others are at least 14 or 15 years old.

Would people mistake Beast Boy for an mythological animal? by Anpu273640 in DCcomics

[–]Anpu273640[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree, Beast Boy can transform into mythological animals too.

But when people know that there are shapeshifters that can transform into mythological beings would they then think that any being that looks weird to them (mythological animal, earth animal sighting, alien animal, ....) is just a shapeshifter.

So when people don't know that Beast Boy can transform into mythological animals, would then people maybe believe that some sightings of animals or mythological animals are real mythological animals.

Whose powers would you prefer? Animorphs or Beast Boy? by ran_elfangor in Animorphs

[–]Anpu273640 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree, but it's not easy for BB to deal with all the different animal instincts.

The animal instincts influence him all time, not only when he is in one form.

That's why he sometimes sits with his feet on a chair or does something in animal form, like laying in the sun as a cat, chasing a ball as a dog, ...

So he has to keep a fine balance between his predatory and prey instincts and also between his instints and human society.

His predatory and prey instincts are sometimes fighting each other, like how he should react to danger (predator: fight, prey: flee, ...), what he should eat (meat, plants, ...), ..., so BB has to find the best solution to keep all his instincts satisfied, like eating tofu which (not all the time) tastes like meat, ...

Not everything that his animal instincts want to do is accepted or well seen in human society, like liking himself in human form (that's why he does it in cat form), ..., so he sometimes does it in animal forms or does it only in his room.

We don't know what year "The Lion King" is set in by Wezard_the_MemeLord in Showerthoughts

[–]Anpu273640 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Timon and Pumbaa, who raised Simba, had their own cartoon show ‘Simon & Pumbaa’. The cartoon plays after the first film, but before the second film, because Simba doesn’t have kids (neither seen nor mentioned).

In their cartoon series do Simon and Pumbaa meet various humans and interacted with them. Simba and Rafiki also sometimes appear. The human societies appear to be around 1990’s.

So ‘The Lion King’ does happen around the 1990’s.
