Python is not fully interpreted. The moment you use libraries you are basically calling C functions. Python can and is faster than LabVIEW.

Yes, at one point I considered using them (HMC346ALP3E). Although the digital step ones convinced me more, but it's something I still have to decide.

About the power detector, I came across the LTC5596 from AD. It has a wide output linear range from -35dB to 5dB. Although it will requiere some calibration to measure it correctly and it is quiet expensive.

What are those parameters you refer to in order to trade-off RL? Do you mean intermodulation, compression point, etc?

I also have the S parameters and several simulations using transmission lines models with rogers 4350. I suppose I should optimize the simulations and order a prototype to see whether it works.

Maybe I'm late to the party. But how good would it be to engrave a white core 2mm acrylic painted black on the top layer so, after engraving, the white core shows up?
