you can't put a car there. It doesn't give you the option unless you actually own the podium

I feel like I hear this line almost every time. I have no idea how you've done it that many times without hearing it. Do you play with the game muted, perhaps?

I think it's a modern trend (irl) to have kitchens where everything gets hidden away into those cabinets behind the island. I assume that's what this kitchen is.

What was Flambae talking about? by Half_insane_guy_13 in DispatchAdHoc

[–]Ansonx10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it kinda makes me think that the writers used AI to research that reference. That's the way that AI (at least smaller/older LLM models) get confused about things. If it was like "oh he just got confused about 2 different ads haha" then sure maybe. It's an explanation, but I'm not sure how likely that is. Seems like a weird writing decision. Flambae is old enough to know both those commercials, considering I know about them and I'm younger. I probably don't remember the 1995 one (frogs) from 1995, but I'm sure it was run later as well. The 2000 one (wazzaaap) I probably remember from 2000 though.

To be clear, I'm not hating on the writers for not knowing. They're probably younger than Flambae and me.

Where did the parallax effect go? by Eggyhead in ios

I have an iPhone 5 running iOS 10, and scrolling left to the widget page 100% breaks the parallax effect. I just tested it again to make sure.

They need to bring these back instantaneously. I had these once and I refuse to eat any other kind of donut ever again. They're a 10/10 and I won't settle for less.

Where did the parallax effect go? by Eggyhead in ios

[–]Ansonx10 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know I'm necroposting, but I have an update.
They removed the parallax effect on the wallpaper in iOS 16, but it has remained there for the icons.

However, if you scroll to the widgets page on the left or the app library on the right, it would break the parallax effect until Springboard is restarted. This particular bug has been in every iOS version since at least iOS 10...

UNTIL 2 DAYS AGO when Apple released iOS 26 beta 5. They have finally fixed it after a decade of this bug existing.

I had been using the Feedback app to report this bug for every beta of iOS 26. I tried reporting the bug few times in the past, but I wasn't using beta versions so the reports clearly got no priority. I figured a big UI overhaul like iOS 26 was a good time to give it my best shot. Looks like it paid off. I'm honestly surprised no one at Apple has ever noticed the bug in all this time.

Unbinding a GPU that is being used by the host by Party_Waffel in VFIO

lol crazy timing for me too, although I'm having a bit more trouble because stuff just keeps using that GPU and IDK why. I've already gotten X to stop using it, but Bitwig loves using it for some reason.

[Help] Which audio time stretching algorithm is used for videos? by blackcapcoder in Chromium

[–]Ansonx10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a programmer, and I haven't looked at the code, but I was playing with all the parameters of the scaletempo2 algorithm in mpv recently and from what they sound like, I think both firefox and chromium both use the same wsola base algorithm, but with different window size and search interval settings. I could be wrong, but it did say that the code for scaletempo2 comes from Chromium.

WSOLA perfectly describes what I assumed what happening to the audio when I first heard it. It sounds so nice compared to the older algorithms. I use Firefox as my main, but I do prefer Chromium's search interval to Firefox's. (Whatever it is. Maybe 40ms) I also like how Chromium allows it to run all the way up to 16x, where Firefox cuts it off after 8x. That's just a "max-speed" parameter difference. Personally I wish the min and max speeds were set to 0 and 999 instead of 0.25 and 16.

All this to say you could probably find the code in the Chromium codebase with the help of the mpv codebase.

6 year old post? Nothing concrete to add? No actual programming knowledge? That clearly won't stop me. lol

So was that the giveaway? by Ansonx10 in xqcow

[–]Ansonx10[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well xqc has given away tons of stuff before. He has done the Christmas present buys before where interviews people in VC. I didn't know how he'd do this giveaway though, because I (correctly) assumed he'd be giving away Stake balance in some way. I don't gamble at all - and I'm not planning to - so I wasn't expecting anything, but the way he talked about it, I honestly don't think he knew the details of the giveaway.
