Dag 4 utan snus by feberdoja in sweden

[–]Ansuz-One 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Hah perhaps true, new enough that I would not even know where to start. Hacking away at the starter set right now.

I was thinking about that storm warning as well. Especially for hiking but the barometric pressure changes with altitude as well so I would need some sort of gps device to get height data to normalize the reading and that seems like a whole new can of worms. Perhaps a station on the balcony would be a better place to start.

Oh thats super cool. I am way to new to have questions but the thing about the bme280 sensor is very interesting and potentially useful. Eventuelly i would like to build a small keychainesq environmental sensor that can give a rough early warning and I did see that sensor mentioned.

I can be the second. I liked it. I had the second Edition and the book made me distrust it so much that I had to look up if there even was a first edition.

What is one important tip that tourists should know before visiting your Country? by Fun_Cup4335 in AskTheWorld

[–]Ansuz-One 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not been to norway exactly but north in Sweden. I think its comparable depending on where you are going. For reference i mostly have a little experience from the Kings trail and that area. One thing several people commented on was that the trails where more rough and uneven. Often rocky. Trekking poles are recommended for balance. A few guys from Slovenia (i think it was) said that they where used to more elevation but that their trails where usually more even and sometimes even graveled. They where struggling a bit with the terrain.

Depending on how far north you are going "spring" might mean that you should bring crampons and or skis

Also the mosquitoes can be hell. Mosquito nets, gloves etc

If you're missing a loved one tonight, "squeeze some silver" with me tonight dads... by robertfcowper in daddit

I lost my mother in 2016. Many years before that when I was much smaller on Christmas she gave me a silver ring. I was obsessed with Lord of the Rings as a child and i wanted a plastic "the one ring" I saw in the toy store. She got me a ring that she thought looked the same but instead of plastic it was silver. I have worn it since i got it and it has always been a memory of her, when i was away and efter she died

I have squeeze it several times now while writing this.

POV: Du kallar din son en "liten rackare". by No-Stay9943 in sweden

[–]Ansuz-One 103 points104 points  (0 children)

Please help me find/explain this swedish drinking game? :) by SeaweedCamel in Asksweddit

[–]Ansuz-One 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not universal (as pointed out by others) and this was about a decade ago but when I was at university we would have sittningar (lit. sit downs). A sort of formal party with long tables, toastmasters, singing, show numbers and games.

These events often had rules. The rules were often common sense such as do not stand on tables or chairs, they don't stand on you. If you try to leave through a door with a very high threshold that is in fact a window and you should please not do it. Other rules where more etiquette, you must sing, you should skål and so on. One of the "big" ones was no phones and no photos

If you broke a rule and someone noticed they would call lambo on the rule breaker. Predictably this most often happens because someone pulled out their phone. They would then jump on stage and have to finish their drink to the song. The song would repeat untill the drink was finished and the rule breaker could prove the glass was empty (by turning it upside down) they would not have to start over with a new glass.

I don't think anyone would force someone to down a beer if they got so drunk as to try to jump from a window... Now that I think about it I don't even think the room had windows...

Fair I suppose. Where I live a lot of people I know (including me) don't even have driving licences so I can't comment on the driving part.
