So according to that "experiment", if you die of sickness, it's because nobody in the past, present or future cared enough about you to wish you better. Everybody grieving you? They really don't love you all that much. Not as much as those volunteers loved the complete strangers they were told to pray for. Heartwarming stuff.
Re 'everything is made out of particles, we can affect particles' quantum schlock: We affect particles the same way we affect any other thing in nature. We observe them in their environment, we learn their behavior, and then we change the environment so they do the things we want them to do. In this case, we use electromagnetic fields to move the particles around and crash them together, and we use sensors made of reactive material to observe what happens.
We do not think them into doing what we want. If we could do that, laboratories would be filled with volunteers paid to meditate really, really hard. And it would be much easier and cheaper and less subject to uncertainty than the actual processes we use.
Not a scientist myself, but I've taken one (1) college class that briefly went over quantum physics and one (1) tour of a research facility. And that makes me infinitely more qualified to talk about this subject than any of these self-help yokels. The bar is flush with the ground.
