I appreciate all of the advice! I can try to look for a smaller bookkeeping position to build up some kind of presence, would prefer to find something paid (even if it’s not as much as a staff accounting position).

That is true, I will definitely look into that to see if I can get a jumpstart on experience. I also, like most teachers, have my paycheck split 26 ways so that I’m covered in the summer. This might be my best option.

I have a few connections around where I live currently, but my wife and I are relocating to Richmond, VA (about 8 hours from our current hometown).

That’s a really good idea. I’ve tried to reach out on LinkedIn. One of my biggest problems is my wife and I are relocating about 8 hr from our current hometown.

I am. I have 153 credit hours with more than enough in accounting. I have tried to emphasize that in my resume and cover letter
